| After feeling underwhelmed in the manner of the Catalans defeat, if someone had told me we’d go to Headingley and put in a gutsy rather than a classy performance, in appalling weather, that we’d continue to be the leagues re-start champions and our general indiscipline would not be good either, meaning we had to defend far more than we should be......
But...we would score 3 tries to their 2 and win 18-12 to take the 2 points home , whilst putting in a defensive performance that just a season ago would would have been beyond us.
I would have taken that any day of the week!
The lads defended for each other like lives depended on it for large periods of that 2nd half, bodies on the line everywhere, its just so uplifting to see our team refuse to wilt when faced with wave after wave of attacks. It was like we turned them back then said “here’s the ball ... have another go”.
Winning a game that way is stressful but we know and they know that when it really matters they can defend really well. And that self belief is the foundation of a top side.
Yes we have to have be more creative in attack, but it’s early days and we’re addressing the biggest fault first. I’m sure when Brett and Gaz are happy with defending, they will focus on scoring tries.
Even as a work in progress we can still win, even though we are not the finished item.

| Quote: The Hollywood Frasier "I like Brown but he seems to be prone to the odd brain explosion which I think is maybe coming from him trying so hard to make a impact.
If he isn't going to be playing he should be out on loan with a call-back clause because he needs to be playing against men as his development is really running the risk of stagnating.
How people would have him above Fash in the pecking order I have no idea though.'"
I think Fashy has really improved this term, but the potential, or certainly the expectations of Jack Brown has caught the imagination of the fans, he looks an exciting player. But who knows what’s going on, have Rovers swooped for him

| Quote: bonaire "unfortunately Chris there seems to be a lot of older generation supporters on here who just cannot stand any form of criticism
of players or the club even though at times its clearly warranted.
We all care about the club otherwise we wouldnt spend time reading and posting comments on here and we all have favourite players.
We are now in an exciting new era with a Rookie coach who has quickly gained the respect of the players and fans alike and the togetherness, fitness and the will to work their socks off for each other is plain to see.
That said you still have to question Brett Hodgsons bench selection for the last two matches and the continuing indiscipline which seems to have become worse since the opening two games.
The extra defending we have to do as a result drains the energy not only to defend but also to put together any meaningful attack so its imperative that the coach instills into the players the importance of disciplined play.
With Bowden back for Saints i doubt we will see Brown but before the semi draw i said i would rather play Saints as i feel confident of beating them and i think we will beat them also on Friday.'"
unfortunately bonaire the older generation are allowed there opinion as much as the younger generation of whom some just seem to whinge about anything and everthing , we all see things different, but i agree with you about the bench it does seem strange,

Apparently doesn't exist so we d be fine
Only other option is having somebody in charge of the officials who preaches a common sense approach rather than finicky letter of the law. In fact it'd be something just having somebody in charge of the officials instead of Ganson who's on sick.

| Regards the complaints about the bench, we have 3 props missing and Jack Brown not being chosen, there must be internal reasons for this. His agent has offered him to other clubs, he may well have signed for someone? Radford? If that’s the case, should he play? Who else can you pick on the bench? I’m an older supporter and am allowed my view but I don’t regurgitate the same stuff over and over and over and over, think you get what I’m saying. By the way one poster gave a running commentary of all the crap bits of the game but no mention of Connor or Swift or Griffin at centre!! Not second row, or the fantastic defence, or the win for that matter.
Heyho, onwards and upwards. FC are only into round 7 of Super League, joint 3rd, or 5th , depends which way you look at it, oh and a semi final coming up shortly. Brett Hodgson only been here a matter of months and thank God for that. Save your griping for when it’s needed, I say.
