How many pro sportsmen won VC's? Does anyone know? Wasn't there an Aussier RL player who also won one?
Is the RFL doing anything to commemorate those players who died in the conflict?'"
Especially surprising given that one of the contributors to the radio programme was Tony Collins.
Records of RL (or Northern Union) players who served in WW1 seem particularly sp indeed, as can be evidenced from Tony Collins's blog
On the subject of an Aussie RL player also winning the VC, I'll check back through my Jack Harrison Memorial Committee minutes. I seem to remember a NZ RU player also won VC and MC but a lot's gone on over the intervening years and memory ain't what it once was.
