FC Voices, the communications arm constituted to assist the fans of Hull FC get the most out of supporting their club, are pleased to be able to announce the winner of the 2010 Fans Supporter of the Year Award.
After receiving several worthy nominations the independent panel of judges has decided that this year the prize will go to 71 year old George H Walker who travels to home games by train from Edinburgh.
George, who spent many years in the Royal Navy, has been a lifelong fan of Hull FC and makes the 520 mile round trip for almost every game at the KC. This is the first time that the award has been presented in recognition of the distance that a fan has to travel to games but the judges had no hesitation in unanimously awarding George the title of ‘Hull FC Fans Supporter of the year 2010’. The award was presented prior to the local Derby on Good Friday between Hull and Hull Kingston Rovers
Pete Allen the Chairman of FC Voices says, ‘I am sure everyone appreciates just what a sacrifice George makes to support his team and as we are all arriving home after a game George is often just setting off back to Scotland again. On occasions he does stay overnight with his family before starting the journey back next day but it is still an amazing distance to travel to watch the team he loves.
