| 2nd rumour I’ve seen about Gigot today. We’re well covered at full back but could he replace Brough long term?

Agreed, just doesn’t seem a position we need filled, however I don’t know the injury situation.

| He's played HB reasonably well in the past? Looks another versatile signing, only 29 so a few years left in him.
I have a theory as to why French players seem to do well at Trinity. Due to our ramshackle ground and general levels of poverty than most SL clubs we resemble more what French players are used to in their domestic leagues. Yes, I know Catalan is somewhat different but it's still French and not quite as intensively scrutinised as the British game. Basically I just think they feel more at home with us than at say Leeds. Could be way off but heck.

Apart from the fact there is some racial stereotyping in there, I think you'll find the French sporting stadiums are equal if not better than their English counterparts. And as they have the Olympics in 2024 they are only going to get better.
At a grass roots level you only have to go to some backwater village and see the tennis facilities or the football stadium with astro turf. They were way ahead of us on that.
The French rugby league facilities are poorer because of the lack of money in the game but that doesn't mean a French person feels "more at home" in poor facilities.
Obviously Stade Brutus is pretty special but even Albi have a much better stadium than us. Villeneuve only have a 5,000 capacity stadium but the complex itself hosts tennis, basketball and has a couple of training pitches I think. It's a while since I've been to it but the facilities are pretty nice.
And it doesn't rain as much either.
In terms of French players settling in, it's probably more to do with the recruitment choice, and the fact that, compared to antipodean imports, if they feel homesick, they can just nip home on the weekend if they want to.

Firstly there is no racial stereotyping don't be so ridiculous. You clearly know nothing about French RL, the vast majority of who's stadia would not beat most conference clubs. It is obvious to most people that I'm referring to the sport of RL in particular and not the whole spectrum of French sport
Go view this site, take a tour of the stadiums through the links, then come cak and tell me which of those stadia match any SL club. Then check their attendances and net worth then tell me which SL team they match. Then check their revenue sreams etc etc. As for the Tennis courts etc, they are municiple and belong to the Town not the club, ditto in most cases the stadiums themslves. That's 100% municiple not a share as with most SL clubs.
The only SL club remotely similar to those 'elite' clubs is sadly ourselves and thats a stretch as we are considerably better off. Hence why French players may find the more homely Trinity a bit more to what they are accustomed too, not all, but a fair few.You really need to think before you knee jerk react. No French clubs apart frm Catalan come anywhere near there SL counterparts. The French Elite Division one isn't even close to the standard of the RL Champioship.

| The accusation of ‘racial stereotyping’ was totally out of order.

You must live in permanent outrage over something. I think you need to pass the keyboard back to the other guy.
But if I take your points one at a time
It may be mild but saying French players are ok with poor clubs like ours because they are used to poor facilities is racial stereotyping. You give no reference to anything about the players apart from them being French and group them together to draw a conclusion. That is racial stereotyping. No one is offended by it. It was mild. You are not banned. But it is what it is.
French stadiums. I gave you three examples of clubs that have good facilities. As there is only one to compare with Super League I'd say the others are a good comparison. I don't profess to know French rugby league well, but I have been and I have seen them.
In reference to the fact you were commenting on only rugby league grounds to show how they would accept our poor facilities, I was simply trying to widen your view to show that someones acceptance of the facilities and being comfortable does not just confine itself to the pitch and changing rooms. We have to train away from our pitch. Not bad gym, but not ours. Some of the lower league rugby clubs in France are connected with sporting clubs with nice facilities. That will have an impact to how they feel about being in Wakefield, as will the town they come from, the way they were brought up etc etc etc.
As I said, its more likely they feel comfortable, if in fact they do as it is only anecdotal evidence that they do, because of locality.

| Pop tart you are attempting to bring a racial issue into a discussion where there was none. I lived in SW France for 10 years by the way and the majority of stadiums in the ‘elite’ are way below Superleague standard.

No attempt. Just stating my opinion.
I don't argue with what you say there. But elite 1 is clearly a lower league just like championship.
But to say French players are ok with poor facilities in UK because they are only used to poor facilities in France is not true.
If you lived there you'll know that.
