Have to declare my age 68 but I am tired of players receiving the ball when they are stood still.

What makes it worse is when others around them are stood on the same mark rather than in a deeper position.

To me, lying deeper would help in 2 key areas.

Three quarters would have more time to get the ball out to the wing. Alternatively just speed up the passing which incidentally is an embarrassment at the moment and really needs working on.

Forwards running on to the ball have momentum that does not exist when they receive it stood still and even when stopped have the advantage from leg pumping.
Tanginoa and Pitts are in my opinion top drawer for this but many of our forwards are too easy to stop. This was demonstrated very well last night when a much physically smaller Bradford pack more than held their own against us.

Finally why are we so slow to move up in a defensive line even after the opposition have made a mistake we hang back instead of hounding them. Once again this was demonstrated in the first half against Hull. At least 4 of their forwards moved up quickly so that they met us while we were stood even when the ball had moved across the line.

At the moment we just are not quick enough and I include thinking in that which is such a shame with the potential of TJ on the wing.

We were lethargic in the second half of last season and to date this season have not fired on all cylinders yet.

After last night's wake up call we need a motivator like John Kear on the pitch and in Jay Pitts who proved at London that he is captain material.

Been saying this for years, just look at some videos of a few years back, our whole attacking line moving from a deeper position, the ball being passed wide. A championship team Bradford showed this ability a few times against us last night. At the end of the day, this is about coaching ability. I’m saddened to see, that ability is lacking at Trinity.

Agree with above we got no dummy runners ,we pass the ball so slow Bradford had two or three men spare when or if the ball reached our wingers

It’s simple things that should be quick wins. Forwards receiving the ball flat footed is so frustrating to watch. Likewise our line speed is average at best, we don’t dominate tackles as much as we should, last night a prime example.

I know NRL is a different beast but watching them attack, there’s so much fluency, running hard at the line before passing the ball out back. We need to be more direct!

All good valid points i agree with but the issue of passing from both hookers should be addressed too get them all to watch a roby or clarke all their passes are passed at right height onto moving forwards not down ankles or over heads so players have to stop and catch ball alliwing defence to move up it really is simple get them passing a ball from the ground through a hanging tyre repeatedly until its second nature

Sadly, it's not going to get any better, reason, 2 things, the coach does not recognize your point, cannot coach it out & 2nd ly, you have to be very fit to do that type of continual running, we were blowing in the 2nd half !

I know that the subject has been flogged to death and I don't intend to go any further than the following statement:

Much as I like Chris Chester, it is ultimately down to him. Most people on this forum seem to agree with what ricardo says, but I can only think that CC thinks it is beneath him to take advice from all the "amateurs" on this forum. Apart from The Kear spell at BV we are totally devoid of attacking ideas except from one or two odd flashes as per Reece Lyne last night. Sadly, I cannot see any trophies being in the Trinity cabinet whilst CC is in sole charge.

Can you name one person who can guarantee we won’t stay in super league with Mr Chester in charge. No, I didn’t think so.

Are you actually suggesting Chester should listen to the fans for his tactics? That's probably wins the award for most ridiculous post this season.... And we've had a lot of competition so far.
There is a famous quote, If a coach starts listening to the fans, he'll soon be standing with them.

It would sometimes be better to run on to the ball but sometimes not.

If you watch some games from the past where there is a really deep line it looks spectacular when they run through a broken line, but you'll also see a large percentage that don't even cross the gain line in a whole set.
These days the defense would just trot up and keep a fixed line and stop you. It would hurt a bit more if they have momentum but you need metres gained for early sets and that is what standing a bit shallower gets you with less effort. It's percentage rugby and I'm pretty sure that is first page in the John Kear handbook too.

I agree there are times that standing deeper would help, but they are at key points in the game not every play and certainly not the forward dfives.
