Quote: fullofhope "so the palyers and coaching staff set expectations and goals for a top 4 finish, now when they discussed this pre season the players must of been fully aware of what they were commting too having played the season before surely this will have informed their decision making.
They also knew how much they were getting paid and the difference in salary cap between other top 4 teams and themselves and yet still as an informed collective they proudly felt they were capable of a top four finish.
the season has taught us they are not a top 4 side quite possibly not even a top 8 side, based on their pre season targets the season has fallen way below expectation.
I hope that is the overriding message and not didnt we do ok considering we are the poorest team in the league they set expectation not the supporters and they have failed to live upto them'"
I get what you are saying, but sometimes you can't win with comments pre season. If we'd have said, ultimate goal is top 8, then most people might have thought that's quite unambitious given we finished 6th the previous year. Maybe we have underachieved, not sure tbh. How far are we off being a top 4 team when we have lost I think 6 games by 6 points or less, most against the 'top' clubs?! 3 or 4 of those go our way and we are in the top 4, I know all clubs have narrow defeats, but we have had the most I reckon along with Leeds. Most of them we threw away, which is obviously our fault, but let's face it, we were robbed at Saints, we lost at Hull with that conversion that did, didn't go over......it is a fine line sometimes. But we have thrown in quite a few too many truly dodgy performances, Salford away, both recent games against Hudds, yesterday, Cas away was very poor too, although they weren't much better. It's been a season of frustration and nearly performances. Maybe we should be grateful teams like Leeds etc have had injuries, even HKR now they have got some back are playing much better, just shows you how close it is, we could be now where Hull are, and we could also be nearly where Salford are.
