| So with the new link road now done who owns the patches of land that goes either side of it, more so the old power station bit. This site looks big enough for a stadium.

| Think most of it is zoned for housing or commercial development so it would not be affordable. However there looks to be some agricultural land that will be green belt but a Community Stadium is permissible development in the green belt.

| Like SC said, all of the land has been zoned and already has a plan in place of what they want to build down there. I live about 100m from the Pinderfields Hospital side of it and have been to meetings to see the plans and have been sent info on it quite regularly the past year or so.
It's meant to take 15-20 years to eventually complete, but on the old strawberry fields/Pit area they plan to eventually put most of the 2500 houses plannned for the area. I think some others around 500 are to be wher the Power Station was. Plus a new School, Health Facilities & the Industrial units are supposed to be built on the old Sewage Treatment Works. The owners of the site as far as I know, are WMDC, Miller Homes, Stretton Property and Keyland (basically Yorkshire Water).

All we've got to look forward to in our back garden is HS2. "Railway Cottage" signs must be selling like hot cakes!

| Looking at the City Fields website the council own a huge chunk of the site. They own 52 hectares (128 acres) and it's designated as housing land, leisure and recreational use, and waterfront development.

| . With so many houses being built, I presume the leisure and recreational use thing, although fairly vague in it's meaning. Will probably be more to do with the amount of people that will end up living down there and the fact that they'll have to create things that come under that banner, so it's not some huge housing estate with little else there. So that'll mean a Children's playground and a Pizza shop.

If Newmarket is dead, what happens to the land on that site that was earmarked for community facilities and who owns it and could this be sold to generate any revenue towards a "new" project ?

I think I read in one of the other threads about Newmarket that the farmer still owns it, could be wrong mind.

I believe you're right, farmer owns it but Yorkcourt have an option to buy.
If they're not going to build a stadium they should be forced to buy the land and gift it to Trinity for us to build our own stadium.
Maybe then we could sell it off for housing and make the money we need to go build elsewhere!!
I know this isn't really an option before anyone jumps on it, but would be nice to screw them over instead of the other way around.

| They should be forced to pay a percentage of the stadium funds based on how much are new old has taken up, they should not be allowed to walk away unscathed through this.
