| According to League Express,Ben Jones-Bishop has been offered opportunity to be one of Trinity's highest earners if he commits his long term future to the club. The problem we have in keeping him is he is on a free transfer at end of season as he is out of contract. It enables other clubs a bit of leeway with wage offers to him by not having to pay a transfer fee.

| And you and us(Salford) have offered York City Knights backrower Ed Smith a deal as well.

| Depends what mega deal means.
If it is a good salary on a really long contract I'm all for it. He is worth keeping.
If it's marquee money.......I'd rather have a marquee hooker or half back.

| This seems an odd story.
I mean he's good and all - but given our options in the back line, I think there are probably better ways to spend the money that a 'mega-deal' would suggest.

huh
we don't have to pay a transfer fee either so unless somebody goes out on a limb for him, making compromises to sign him, its down to the club.
I don't care what anyone say's, to lose him is to weaken the team, there's no getting around that.
Look at the stats, the guy is A grade, who as good or better would we replace him with.....well we just wouldn't so its a backward step.
Having said that, the payrole is a finite thing and you can't spread it thickly everywhere, but definitely not a player we should let go easily.
I'd rather try develop what we have and keep what we know is good, than gamble on the unknown, better the devil ya know, a bird in the hand........a rolling stone gathers no moss...salways darkest before dawn.......lol..

I'd keep him personally but he must be on a fair wage at the moment, could we afford to lose him and shell out on a high quality hooker? Or are we happy that hooker is covered?

| Hooker needs sorting for me, but with MCB BJB Johnstone and Lyne we have real pace, teams are frightened of it and we must keep it.

I tend to agree, that's the beauty of having strength in depth, even when Tom Johnstone was ruled out for a long while it was a case of very sad, but we have terrific cover.

I think that's hugely over egging the pudding for a winger, any winger. Nor do I think he's as good as you make out.
However if he maintains this form I'd love to keep him - and we are definitely better off with a players we know, on that point I couldn't agree more.

Well no but

Wood is decent, he's there or there abouts, I mean he isn't a McShane but if he can make it a bit tougher for the opposition to shut him down he could be much more of a stand out for us.
I don't think we're there at 6 either but there looks to be potential for improvement.
Nobody, imo is an out and out duffer, as much as I'd like to see a couple of exceptional pivots sign, that's not going to happen, if we cut bjb loose to spend the money elsewhere, who are we going to sign ??
You just know its gonna be a name but it'll be somebody we're taking a punt on, somebody with a big pile of baggage or from the NRL, or both, either way its rolling the dice.
We're not rolling the dice with bjb and wood is...well wood is an investment soon to bare fruit....hopefully..
Hey, if we can't keep him, we can't keep him, that's just the way it is, we'll have to cross that bridge when/if it gets built.
Its been a long long long time since we had 3 top drawer flyers, they're all have different qualities but with TJ busted up for the season, that MCB signing has been absolutely priceless, lose bjb and we're back to making up the numbers with youngsters and players out of position.
