After the heady days of 6 from 5 I was still sceptical but hopeful we could be A team that can compete with the big boys.
At half time unfortunately it was apparent we are a team that is working for each other but the extra bit of skill needed to compete at the top we lack. It's a shame because how good would it be to have that feeling like 2004 when we could be .at anybody and entertain to boot.
This team needs another year or so to reach the fluidity needed to challenge I still have question marks over a few things sam Williams for one I don't feel is contributing yes he's trying but his skill level is not quite good enough.
Scott grix has been brilliant but it's apparent why he has always been an average player that works hard his skill level especially his kicking is not quite good enough these traits can be attributed to a few more.
In no way am I having a go I Just feel that we have a better understanding of the group and what they are capable of and it mediocrity which is understandable given our cap spend.
Yes we won the second half but who cares they had well and truly taken there foot off the gas.
So all in all a good season so far but that feint hope we may just be good enough to compete with the best has been well and truly shot to pieces onto Wigan.

Still 5 from 9 wins and in the positive on the score difference. Two big games coming up against teams who also have mixed form at the moment. Hopefully we can find a win from one of them.

We've now failed to beat any Yorkshire side this season, this needs to change if we want to remain competitive. The losses against Hull and Huddersfield are starting to really look like missed opportunities

I'll take being competitive with everyone except Cas and Leeds......in a breath

Tbf, the Leeds game was far worse

It was one game, against a team flattening everybody, at their place, its not the end of civilization as we know it, if you say Wakey are mediocre then there are 7 other clubs just as mediocre or worse.

Lets do the woe is me, at the end of the season.

I was disappointed at the game but I've watched some of it back and we weren't that bad.
They were good and we were always hanging on but a couple of 6th tackle plays from us that just handed them possession gave them the gap they needed.

Finn has to play.

We already know what our level is, battling to stay in the top 8 and taking as many scalps as we can along the way. It was always gonna be tough Cas away but I thought we did ok, especially 2nd half when we defended better. CC will be concerned at some of the defence for their earlier tries but it became a more even game later. Depending on injuries I'd like to think we can beat Wigan on Monday. Seeing as they're the current champions, what will our level be then if we beat them?

Cas Fan Here
Wakefield played ok again today, came up against a team on fire in the first half that would have scored that many against a lot of the other teams in the league,2nd half we were not as composed but credit to Waky for giving everything, can't see any reason why you wont be in the top 6 this year.
The only disappointment for me was Sam W,seemed miles off the mark today.
Good luck for the season and as I as said before top 8 Definitely but think top 6 is very achievable for you

Not sure why some of you feel down after that..... Yeh the first half was not the best but by heck, that second half was one of the best ive seen a team play against us. Nothing special in attack but totally stopped our go forward and we couldnt get playing.

I'm not down, Cas were miles better and eased off second half - probably thinking about Monday - but we're improving steadily. You took advantage of our centre going off injured & scored a couple of tries while we were reorganising, but that's the way it goes. Our attacking needs work, nowhere near as well drilled and instinctive as yours. Good game, I enjoyed it.

What the hell was that "Downtown" penalty...?

The ref made some shocking decisions today, which may not have switched the balance of the game, but would have changed the dynamic.

Look we were beaten by a better side we must accept that.

Loosing Tupou early created a defensive shambles down our left for 10 minutes. This was exploited heavily by Cas and cost us a 12 pts.

We also finished the last quarter with no centres and a couple of second rowers trying their best. Ok the game had gone by then but it did not help.

I agree Scott Grix although not poor has had better games.

However I still agree our halves is my main concern and if we had any money for team strengthening either this season or next, that would be a priority for investment.

Nevertheless, we still are having a good season and doing much better than many of us hoped for including myself.

Onwards and Upwards and lets hope those injuries today do not hurt us too much in the coming weeks.

“Down town” Any player who is in front of the kicker in general play is not permitted to advance beyond the point of the previous play the- ball until the ball has gone past the off side players. This rule delays the movement of the off side players downfield in an attempt to encircle the ball receiver as he collects the ball - See more at: www.rugby-league.com/the_rfl/rul ... GPQYb.dpuf

Considering that nobody was kicking the ball, and the ball passed the offside player bringing him onside, then I can't see how it could be considered "downtown". Decisions like that and Cas being allowed a 20m restart when they took the ball in-touch really changed the game dynamics

Yeah I enjoyed it really, thought we showed a lot of character to dig in that second half. 1st half was a bit disappointing defensively but Cas come at you from all angles, hard and fast with the likes of Webster and Millington. Thought we did well shutting Gale down, but Roberts tore us a new one instead!

We'll need to improve to beat Wigan but some encouraging signs in the 2nd half for sure.

Monaghan's foot was over the line. As soon as he touches it, it is out of play on the full.

Thought they got rid of that rule?
