| I cannot say how much it makes me happy to see our own players come though, year after year we watch players break through in the other teams but now we have players who actually make others look on ,well done the TRIN this if we keep hold will hopefully make other young players believes that you can get in and play I won't mention the names but cracking

Yep it's great stuff.
I'm especially pleased about Anakin getting a one year extension. Unlike TJ and MJ I feel Anakin is yet to really make his mark. Unless you're the second member of his rather creepy fans club most would concede that he's not yet become the player we had hoped for. He's not let us down when he's played but he's not the "perpetual motion" player we hoped for - because of his size disadvantage this is IMHO what he needs to become to have a long term future. Yet despite this the club seems willing to give him time, something they have rarely done in the past and this could make all the difference to his career. It's a massive step forward and I hope CA appreciates the chance he's being given.
Also a word for young Crowther who seems to be doing it the hard way but without any complaint or tantrums. As a youngster he got some honours and it's very easy for these players to take their bat and ball home when progression to first team isn't instant. This must be made even harder with the progression of TJ and MJ though as we all know (I hope) forwards take longer. I'm not just saying this because his dad posts on here but it's Crowther I'm most interested in. Backs are great but a genuine top class forward from your own ranks is where teams are built - and I'll never change my mind on this, games are won in the forwards.
If James Batchelor is as good as they reckon and Judah Mazive gets some size on him by this time next year we could have five or six home grown's in the 17 though I wouldn't expect it to be regular for a few years yet.
Long term has never featured before at Wakey so well done Mr Carter for stopping the rot on that one.

| Some very good points on here. Well said.
These players could be the cornerstone of our sqaud for years to come.
It would be nice if we could get a half back of the same calibre that comes through soon too.
Looking forward to seeing Batchelor push for a spot. Heard he has a good rugby brain and has played a fee games in the halves.
Having players come through your own academy system also helps the cap as clubs are given recognition for this with giving them like a credit for each player

If you're looking for a creative then Christian Ackroyd is the most likely I'm told. I've not seen much of him so others may have more of an opinion.

| Also great to see 3 of the 5 lads mentioned are born and bred Trinity supporters.

| Now we have the semi to look forward to and unless something dramatic the top 8. The top 8 based on the format we will be cast adrift of the top 4 unless we go on a significant run again.
However there is an opportunity to rotate some of the team and get our best players healthy for the cup semi. We could give the likes of Crowther and other players showing potential a good run n the team, the pressure would be off as such so they could express themselves and with (if we secure the top games against the stronger teams the experience would be beneficial I think.

| Thank you for your kind words Vasty Jordan was thrown in at Wigan at 17 and a lot thought that his time was here, but anyone who has played or coached knows that it is very rare for a forward to emerge at that age at top flight and takes a few years to mature. Of course he wants to start in the first team every week but both CC and Jordan understand that the path he is taking by playing for York every week is the way forward for him, waiting for the chance to be taken when it arrives wether this season or next, also there is a few seasoned pros in that position at the moment doing nothing wrong and long may it continue.

Out of interest, how big is he these days? A lot of forwards can look quite good in junior rugby but don't ever reach the size required to play in the pack week in week out at a high level.

| I agree it is great to see the young lads making an impression but what bothers me is that we have done this before and ended up selling them on. I know they have been given decent contracts i.e. Johnstone, Batchelor etc but that never seems to stop so called money clubs poaching players. If we want to compete let's hang on to these guys no matter what the offers.

| It's the story of Trin I'm afraid, being Wakey fans as well as players must help but money talks, short career and all that.

That's a very easy one to answer. If Carter is true to his word and has balanced the books and has left some wiggle room in the budget it won't be a problem. In the past we had over spent and simply had to get rid to pay the bills.
