| Whilst I think this Saturday against Widnes is effectively a million pound game, win it and things are looking very good for us, if not then points difference is a big factor.
When you look at the table it is interesting reading from that point of view:-
# Team Pl W D L F A Pts
1 Hull K R 4 4 0 0 102 64 8
2 Widnes Vikings 4 3 0 1 126 36 6
3 Salford Red Devils 4 3 0 1 140 113 6
4 Wakefield Wildcats 4 2 0 2 109 88 4
5 Bradford Bulls 4 2 0 2 113 124 4
6 Leigh Centurions 4 1 0 3 112 115 2
7 Sheffield Eagles 4 1 0 3 66 166 2
8 Halifax RLFC 4 0 0 4 64 126 0
(Sorry for the alignment, it is tricky to fix. It looks fine in edit mode but not so good in preview mode.)
Whilst we are not top scorers we have played 2 SL clubs and the top 2 Championship qualifiers.
We've scored more than Rovers (played 2 SL clubs and Halifax) and aren't far behind Widnes who've only played 1 SL club so far and still have Leigh to come.
Widnes would appear, by the table, to have a pretty solid defence which could be our problem on Saturday. Our forwards and half backs really need to be on their game to crack that one.
However, whilst there are a lot of ifs and buts, get a good result on Saturday, or even a marginal loss then we are reasonably well positioned to go all out to attempt cricket scores against the bottom 2. That might be enough.
Thoughts anyone?

| Posted about the importance of points difference a few weeks ago.
It will be critical. Either to secure 3rd spot or, to ensure home advantage in the 4/5 game.
Saturday is all about the win (and we cant afford to slip up in the last 2 games) but, we will need to rack some points up
in our last 2 games and hopefully this may be helped by Sheffield and Fax having nothing to play for.
Saturday will define our season and the future of the club.
It's not overstating things to say that it will be THE most important game in the clubs 142 year history.
Come on Trin !

| Rovers struggled against Fax, Widnes was tight with players rested before the CC final (why i dont know!) and Leigh was a first half blow out, followed by a comeback, cant read too much into it. Wakey should have won yesterday, didnt continue after half time and too many errors.
Widnes beat a championship side yesterday but them and Salford are there for the beating, regardless of the blow out scores.
8pts will guarantee top 4 finish imho, then it is the points difference. Salford wont have much advantage, Widnes if needed would ride the difference, Wakey just need to put Sheffield and Fax to the sword and they will be guarenteed top 4, likely 3rd forcing Salford into 4th.

| Let's assume we beat Fax & Sheff...
If we beat Widnes we will have three wins - the same as Widnes, but more than likely one behind Salford who play Sheff at the weekend.
Widnes then host Salford. If Widnes win, all three teams we go into the last game with four wins - assuming we beat Fax remember. Then we need to rack up points vs Sheff. Widnes host Leigh and Salford go to KR, so every chance of getting the points we need. If Salford win we will be in front of Widnes and just need to beat Sheff.
If we lose to Widnes we will be on two wins & both Widnes and Salford on four. We will need one of them to lose both games and us to make up the points. They play each other in the first game and a draw will see them both safe!
I suspect if we win at the weekend we will be in the top three. Lose and we are in the million pound game - probably at home to Bulls or Leigh

My concern is that faced with your scenario the last game may mean nothing to some and everything to others which means we have to do what we can before we get to this. Like others are saying the game against Widnes is definitely a must win or our fate will be in the hands of others.

Not sure of your logic here, you emphasise a couple of times your assumption we need to beat Halifax and in the same sentence say we must rack up the points against Sheffield, presumably you feel the Eagles match being the easiest of the two yet the Halifax game is at home and the Sheffield game away, add to that not only did we beat Fax in the cup when we were playing poorly, but Sheffield have already beaten them in these middle eight's.

| Agree the points diff is crucial because I see it finishing as HKR on 14, Widnes on 12, Salford & us on 8 and maybe Bradford also on 8.
