| What do you think to the new rules being proposed.
Aussies are doing so we will of course.
Reducing interchange to 8 from 10
Limit to the amount of time the clock can be stopped.
The interchange is good as far as I am concerned. Will reduce the amount of "big lads" stuck on the bench for impact and teams will need more 80 minute players.
You'll also get more tired players on the field for players like Miller to exploit, which makes the game more entertaining.

| Ridiculous. The reduce in interchanges increases the risk of more injuries.
sureoy for the time limit rule, that can't apply to when a player is down injured?

| They are saying it is designed to do the opposite.
Reducing the numbers means less big fresh players running at big impact at tired players
If it reduces the impact in collision it reduces the risk of injury.
Time limit is for drop outs and scrums only

Ashamed to say it but I agree with Stevo, it's time to have a discussion about removing scrums from the game

| For the televised games I'd put a sixty second limit on the video refs. If they can't clearly make their mind up in that time from 3/4 angles then the refs original decision must stick.

| I think we should have a rule where in the last 5 minutes of a game the clock stops when ball goes out of play or when a player gets a 'cramp' when playing the ball. This a would stop sides in the lead in close games running down the clock.

| One new rule implemented in the NRL this season is a zero tackle count when the attacking side kicks the ball dead, resulting in a 7 tackle set for the then attacking side.

Not a fan of that one personally. Kicking the ball dead can be a good way of getting out of trouble and re-forming the defensive line on the 30 metre line. The team that does it shouldn't have to face 7 tackles rather than 6 IMO.
One rule we use in Super League that I hate is the one where you can take the ball dead if the ball is moving and you've got one foot over the dead-ball line. It takes skill to kick a ball that accurately and this rule doesn't reward it.

That's what I am trying to say, the side what takes the tap is then allowed starts on zero tackle or if you like a 7 tackle count set, which although there on their 20 metre line to my mind makes them the attacking side.

Yeah it's silly. They should just have a normal six tackle set on the back of a 20 metre restart IMO. Hope we don't follow the Aussies with this rule.

| Although it may help Wakefield this season (and certain other clubs), I'd go with a deadline for all signings at the end June ?
The scramble for new players on short term deals will do nothing to help the game of RL in this country.
I know that we've had a difficult time and we have been "re building" our squad etc but, a large influx of players late in the season doesn't help the game.
There also needs to be a change is transfer timings, so as not to disadvantage any club that is battling relegation until the final week of the season.
Any clubs surviving the middle 8 are going to have difficulties securing a competitive squad for the following season, with the top 8 clubs mopping up most of
the available talent.
Although football has many faults, the transfer window is one of the better aspects of the round ball game.

that's the whole point though - there is no skill in kicking the ball dead and there should be risk/reward of trying to trap the defender in the in-goal. I think its a great rule and we should have it.
I like the reduction in interchanges, as long as there is provision in there for injuries/concussion/blood bin etc

Blood bin would be obvious, concussion/head injuries would be fairly straight forward but, trying to prove that someone has a legitimate injury (unless their arm/leg is hanging off) would be nigh on impossible to prove and surely this would be abused ?
Of course, substitutes were brought in to cover for injuries and the major change happened when we went from 2 to 4 replacements.

| I like the injury rule we have now.
You get a free interchange to assess head injury. If he stays off it becomes a sub.
4 subs with 8 interchanges is enough to cover injuries.
You have to have a limit otherwise we'll end up with American football size subs benches to cover every possible injury.
