| Thought the guys did really well today.
I enjoyed the game and think this will give them confidence going forward.
No weak links.
This year I would really like to see us playing some clever rugby.
1. After an opposition knock on, lets hoof it down field and get a chase on, or throw it around - lets use the free play rule to our advantage and not just drop on the ball.
2. As Hull did today, if we get a scrum in our half, lets keep the ball in the scrum and get a penalty if the opposition break out of the scrum. Its easy yards and really relieves the pressure.
3. Lets vary the kick offs. For Christmas I bought my Dad a few old DVDs of games. Remember Broughy in the Million Pound Game kicking off short, every time. Maybe not every time, but occasionally - not just if we're 2 points down with 5 minutes to play. It'll catch out many an opposition. Also put some along the ground - not just catching practice again, all year - please.
4. Drop-outs under the sticks. Maybe occasionally look at getting it out on the sidelines to retain possession. Most teams put their line on half way - ish, leaving a big gap in the middle. If you can drop it in there, with a favourable bounce, there's a chance of retaining possession. With the long drop out the opposition invariably get it back to that point before being tackled, so very little is lost.
I'm sure there's lots more ways of using the rules to your advantage. I think its going to be a close season, and as a supermarket once said, "Every Little Counts"!!

| Couldn't agree more. I got fed up of Paul Sykes kicking off to the same player.

| The problem is short kick offs and touch line drop outs need to be deadly accurate otherwise you give the opposition a free route to your line.
Broughy was clearly good at it. I don't think we have anyone that good.
Variable long kicks I'm all for though.

| Shouldn't we practice these things then.
Look at union - the quality of place kicking is so much better.
Many games could be won and lost on the success of conversions.

| How about the little chip over the top - or the one pointer?
It's time to try something different Eddie!

If I was short sighted I could become a referee!: |

| Totally agree about varying the kick off. On the rare occasion we have kicked it hard along the ground towards the touchline it has either resulted in the opposition knocking on or has found touch. Obviously you can overuse the tactic but the high deep kick to the same corner of the ground is definitely overused and quite negative.
