Article in Rugby League express today remembering the Mike Gregory coached England Academy team beating the Combined Australian High Schools in 2002 at Knowsley Road. The England team included Matty Wray who also scored two tries in the Headingley fixture. I remember Matty, who was not the biggest but had the heart of a Lion and played about 4 stone above his weight. Did he go on to play for Fev ? anybody know where he is now.

The England team was Chris Melling, Matt Gardner, Dwayne Barker, Chris Bridge, Matty Wray, Richie Mathers, Luke Robinson, Ryan Bailey, Bob Beswick, Craig Barton, Jon Wilkin, Jamie Langley and Gareth Hock.
Bench : Tommy Gallagher, Bruce Johnson, Tom Saxton and Graeme Horne.

I recall that Ryan Bailey was fantastic in these matches and put the fear of God into the Aussies. The Aussie team included Michael Weyman, Dimitro Pelo, Russell Aitken, Tim Smith, Tom Learoyd, Ben Hannant, Aston Sims, Liam Fulton, Justin Poore, Jacob Lillyman and Ryan Hoffman.

So along with Matty Wray there is a Trinity connection with Richie Mathers ( played at 6 ), Tim Smith and Justin Poore.
