| A decent 19
Webster has a selection headache with who to leave out, which will probably come down to what he can get from Sammut/Wilde and Gilmour/Ryan (both of whom have earned their spot)
Come on Trin !

Drop the player (Sammut) with the most clean breaks except for Godinet who might be out for the season and drop our top tackler for the season who scored a try against Leeds the other week which helped us win the game?
Wildie was ineffective the other week and for me the stats show 28 year old Washbrook is a better option than 36 year old Gilmour especially in the hot conditions in France.
If Sammut can cover 9 to interchange with McShane then he would be an additional attacking and kicking threat for Catalan to have to deal with. He'd also be good utility cover for 1/6/7 in case of injuries.

Agreed but Id shuffle things around if Mathers can't play full back.

Can't see what Gilmour has done to be excluded by people.
True, the conditions will have a bearing on who is left out.
It's a tough decision to make but nice to be in that position, that no one really deserves to be left out.

Who would you have rather had a 9 spending much of the first half on the back foot defending, I know who I would've chosen and he did an excellent job with the rest of the team keeping Widnes to four points and giving Trinity a chance to win a match they had no right to.
I don't know what people expected him to do going forward as Trinity hardly had any ball and what they did have was thrown away. Any 9 would look ineffective.
For me it's simple. As solid as Gilmour has been over the last few weeks if Kirmond is fully fit he takes his place in the side.

Wildie did 17 tackles in his short time on the field but I just think more is needed at 9 than tackling and when McShane came on the field the balance of the game started to change.... However Webster will probably go for Wildie rather than risk trying to fit Sammut in a role he hasn't played in this season. Great to be talking about such healthy options though.
As for Kirmond I completely agree. It's going to be a very tough physical game and he'll also be needed for that running off Tim Smith's cut out passes but only if fully fit.

| Great Stuff!! Tough Decisions... He's already made a few but its nice he has these tough decisions whilst there's no pressure on the team. In fairness Kirmo unless really fit shouldn't play. He's a key player for us and I wouldn't risk him unless he's really fit.
Lets hope its not too warm when they play whoever the team is..

Couple of years ago now, but I didn't know he`d had an extended run at 9. Only problem is, he`s another defensive liability on the field. I would give him a go at interchange hooker.
On that note, does anyone else think Tim Smiths tackling has dramatically improved from his last stint with us?

Yes - he does seem to have toughened up defensively; I did wonder if perhaps he'd been carrying a long term knock that has since cleared up, or if he's just been coached differently. Either way, he's less of a turnstile than he used to be.

The whole team seems to be defending as they should be, Webster's defensive structures working better than Agar's ? Tomorrow's game will be a big test, if everything fall's right I see no reason why we can't turn them over. If Sammut gets a game who's to say Webster hasn't improved his tackling technique too.
