| I suspect that I like many others are in a quandary over a season ticket. It's not the price that's the issue as that is still too low.
The problem is the segregation issue. We have tried the east side and that is terrible and I like many derive no please in watching rugby league from one end. I want to stand on the Western terrace to enjoy my rugby among my friends from the best view in the ground, the western terrace.
This nonsense about segregation has created fights which were a rarity over the last half century and our experience of being showered with glasses of urine and plastic bottles whilst watching from the North Terrace against Leeds was ample confirmation that this misguided policy is ill conceived and should be consigned to the bin. Having been in the North Stand, I don't see it as an experience worth repeating.
If the away fans must be penned in somewhere, the obvious place is in front of the east stand where nobody wants to go.
So my choice is to buy a season ticket and be treated like an unruly child or to ensure I am not wearing any Wakefield merchandise and pay on the gate to enjoy my rugby and some banter with the away fans. It's really up to the club.

Like you i'm not a fan of segregation, however as i understand it the club were ordered to do something about it after the trouble at last years home fixture with cas or else we would have had more financial woes by way of a big fine.
The facilities at the ground not being the best led to the decision that the west stand was the best place to facilitate the needs of a segregated section of (away) supporters - rightly or wrongly.
like you I prefer to be stood with a mix of home and away fans, but sadly the future of the game looks to be heading in a decidedly segregated direction.
Apart from the odd game when the away supporters really do travel in number i would argue you should be able to stand where you choose as away supporters tend to be stood where we are (in front of the big screen) and in and around the bits of the north stand i can see and are unchallenged by the security stewards.
As for the bottle of urine...are you sure it wasnt just the lager??

| Both taste the same to me but I was assured by some lager drinkers that the liquid in the missiles was not lager.

I have no knowledge of the club being ordered to segregate and am not aware of any other ground where segregation is enforced. I do know we were forced to spend money we didn't have to put up sheds we didn't need to fulfil a franchise requirement that the RFL seems to have discarded on a whim.
The club needs to look at the results of its policy last season and determine a policy for the next 2 years until we move to Newmarket that will minimise the alienation of its fans. Can I suggest the system that has worked for the first hundred or so years - just stand where you like.

| If you don’t where a shirt you can always enter the ground through the home end and make your way to the Western Terrace claiming you an away fan. Might not be enjoyable watching the game at home surrounded by Loiner’s et al but there is a way around it. Plenty of away supports have stood amongst the Trinity fans in the North Terrace over the course of the season.
I prefer watching from the West and I agree the best place would be to position away supporters in the East Stand Paddock (by far and away the spst populated area of the ground on a match day).
As an alternative for the club to consider have away fans enter the ground from the Catherine Street turnstiles and section off the Western Terrace at the beer bar. Obviously with larger away followings then ‘partition’ could be slide up as required.

The 20k suspended fine hanging over the club not ring any bells? I don’t know whether the club are facing a fine over the Widnes incident but if that had happened and Trintiy had not done something I'm sure they would’ve been hit with a punishment already.

| im sure there was a suspended fine in place and I think this is the reason the segregation was put in place.

| As an away supporter who was, for the first time I can remember at Wakey, segregated and treated like some sort of leper, I shall not be visiting your ground again until they stop this stupidity. I've always stood happily mingled with the home fans, and until this year, never seen any trouble. This year, fans were segregated, and some idiots kicked off.
Treat people like animals and you'll find they react like animals .......
Footnote: Cas did something similar (apparently because of trouble they'd had with Trinity/KR fans the 2 games previous), but it was not as rigidly applied. The stewards 'advised' Wire fans to not stand in the 'home end' .... but didn't actually stop anyone ..... and there was no trouble either in the ground or in the local pubs afterwards.
Something tells me you lot need the money that 1500-2000 Wire/Saints/Leeds/Wigan fans bring in .... so it's a bit stupid to treat us like we're not welcome?

As I said previously, plenty of away fans have stood in the 'home' end. In particular two Leeds fans entered the Northern Terrace Turnstiles right in front of me without a whimper form the gate operator (who are generally just young kids so I don’t blame them for not saying anything).

define " the system that has worked for the first hundred or so years - just stand where you like." We were fined because of trouble that happened at the cas game - that suggests it wasnt working that well.
Like i said i'm not a fan of segregation and you could easily argue the policy we have had since wasnt working very well for the trouble at the home game against Widness to manifest, but we have what we have and the facilities at the ground have to be able to support it.
You only have to watch tv and look around at society to see that to a large degree, the rl fan of 100 years ago is a dim and sadly distant version of the one that is in attendance thgese days and strategy for managing such events as RL matches has to match the social changes.
Like KK suggested there are ways around the system should you wish to exploit them - although we would not recomend that of course.

Footnote
Approximately 95% of people are naturally immune to lepresy and sufferers are no longer infectious after as little as two weeks of treatment.
Now weve got the overkill dealt with, do you think it would have been wise to have ignored the RFLs warning and done nothing?
Nobody really suggests that segregation is a good idea, just sometimes a practical one.
Don't come if you feel so bad, just send us a cheque or postal order for £22.00 and all will be fine

| Easy one is this! Buy your season ticket, your club needs you to more than ever, that shouldnt even be in doubt if you ask me. Then comes the really tough decision....if the club chooses to segregate then just get on with it, still a lot more choices and better viewing points than at most away games....
