What is everyones views on him?
I think he is a great player (well from what I have seen from the pre-season games) he looks strong and fast. I honestly think he could be just as good if not better then Watkins if he keep improving. I would also like to see how he plays at fullback even if it is for 20 minutes.

Like I said from what I have seen he looks like he has the potential. When he was at Hull I didnt rate him but now I have actually seen him play 2-3 times he looks pretty good.

Yeah a bit early to be comparing him to Watkins. Does look good though, but remember FC fans saying that he had it physically, just not technically, when he came. Deffo a wait and see situation.

Thats where Agar earns his crust, in sorting out the technicaql side, lets wait and see, he does look like he has all the tools and from what I've seen of him he doesn't look a million miles away from what's required, time will tell icon_thumb.gif

You should never judge players in friendlies or owt else really. About the only thing you can judge is general fitness in my experience.

He look OK though I'm yet to see the "blistering" pace he is supposed to have.

I agree, friendlies are well and good but, lets see how he plays in pressure games, I like what I have seen so far, still a lot to learn, Lyne looks as though he means to give it his best shot, good luck to the fella...

Ok...seeing as we are talking about him...what is the correct way of pronouncing his name ????

It is spelt LYNE, so is it pronounced LINE or LIN (as in Vera !!!!!)
The announcer at the Fev friendly pronounced it both ways, so if he gets it wrong what hope do we have... icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Far too early to make any judgements about the player; a couple of decent shifts in pre-season friendly matches is no basis on which to form a view.

He has an opportunity to carve out a regular first team spot here, but he shouldn't be under pressure to be the finished article in his first season; wouldn't want to over-state things and afflict him with the curse of Kevin Penny.

I assume his name was pronounce like Vera but who knows.

As for his potential, from what I have seen he has lots. But at the moment that is all it is.
Saying that, it is great to have a middle back putting pressure on. It is not our strongest area and certainly not a depth area.

However, if we have a run of injuries, I wouldn't be offended with a Cowling/Lyne partnership. Future looks slightly brighter (in an energy saving bulb kinda way)

Totally agree, Cowling started the St Helens one pointer game at home last season and his tackling/defence was outstanding - his attacking side can definitely be improved as he is still young (20/21 i believe) but yeah, the future looks good.

I've been down to see the academy a few times also and James Healy and Corbyn Kilday are promising prospects as well.

I was going to say the same thing, he looked really good in those highlights v Saints. What a future considering he has only recently turned 20.
