| Very interesting discussion about Wakey at the start of backchat this week, including Wakey fans being described as ferocious and amazingly passionate, with BV branded as having an amazing atmosphere.
What a difference a roof makes, if anyone had said those things a year ago, they would have been laughed out of the room!

Shows what a load of the talk of 21st C stadia can be if taken to extremes and used as a stick to beat an unfashionable club with. Put a roof on an old terrace, win 6 matches and suddenly our crap ground seems not to matter any more. Makes me howl. I would like a new ground...but only if it gives us the pleasure and atmosphere Belle Vue does. Belle Vue has a genuine family feel and with a good crowd in it is a cracking place to be, rickety and old or not. I went to the keepmoat for the 08 semi...new and crap. Mechano set with the atmosphere of a wet flannel and that is nowt to do with losing. It's a poor ground and I'd take Belle Vue any day over this type of kit box ground trash

| also are fans being described as one of the best in superleague followed by Hull KR! Wakefield got a lot of praise and was actually pleased with most of the things they talked about and discussed.

| What is happening at our club?! Sky, BBC, the Guardian... all bigging us up! Agar leading polls for coach of the year! Paul Sykes an inspired signing!
I expected none of the above from this season and have been roundly shown up for my lack of faith. What a turnaround from the misery of admin.
Just a shame that we don't get a look in with the England set up.

| Stevo rightly pointed out that there is to be no Yorkshire representation in the Wembley statue, and a campaign should be mounted to address that, with the representative being Neil Fox.
Well said Stevo.

| Andy Wilson made the argument for Don Fox being the sole figure for the statue.
Totally agree.. the most iconinc moment in our sports history was the watersplash final.. it's also an iconic moment throughout all of sport.. especially when nowadays our game struggles for any publicity.
Every year the BBC roll out that clip with Eddie Waring belting out "he's a poor lad "...ICONIC HISTORY NEVER TO BE FORGOTTON.

It may be iconic but is it the right message to give? Imagine a non-RL fan going ro Wembley and seeing a statue of Don Fox. When they ask who he was and why he is there the answer will be simple:- he is famous for missing a kick. He FAILED.
That may come across as harsh for us Trinity fans but it is how it will be seen, as a sign of FAILURE. Much better to have Neil Fox who was the highest scoring rugby league player EVER (since that is a FACT). That is a statue to celebrate success.
I'm not taking anything away from the playing abilities of either of the Fox brothers. I'm merely relaying the imagine it would portray of our sport.

| I have previously made my opinions regarding the statue known in other areas,so in brief, I just think it shows a remarkable lack of respect to Neil Fox,record holder and true ambassador for the game. With regard to the Don Fox issue, I have deep resrvations about this.Yes it was a iconic moment and a never ending talking point, but this was something that stayed with Don throughout his life, and it has been well recorded that it affected him deeply at times right up to his death.I just don't really sit easy with the idea that something which caused so much heartache and sadness to a person should be immortalised and seen as a example of what our greatest game is about.Rugby League has brought so much happiness to so many people over so many years I just think it would be wrong to focus on one moment which caused so much unhappiness.Behind every story is a person I suppose.Just my opinion and I recognise fully the opposing point of view.

| As iconic as the Don Fox missed kick was i don't think it's right to have a statue. As mentioned before, it was a tragic event which affected Don throughout his life and was something he could never get away from.

Didn't he fail that much that he won the MOM award?

As a symbol of RL I doubt such a statue would generate such acknowledgement among neutrals. (I could be wrong, but I doubt it.)
