What is the point of the ref having a microphone. I presume the purpose of it is so that we as the viewer can hear him communicating with the players and explaining his decisions. If so why do Eddie and Stevo talk over constantly. In fact they especially seem to like the sound of their own voice when something does kick off and the ref is eager to talk to players - thus drowning out almost totally what the ref and indeed the players might be saying.
Tonights match - Diskin getting his knickers in a twist. Entertainment value would have been better if we could have heard what the pair were saying to each other under the posts - but no the dynamic duo could not keep their mouths shut.
In fact even as I type I they are struggling to draw breath.

I agree. Saw a clip the other day of John Holdsworth (remember him?) miked up and certainly didn't take any nonsense. These modern refs when miked up should take charge and clamp down on gobby players. If people like Diskin want to argue the toss, go and play soccer.

It has certain benefits!

It's not annoying but it is down right disgusting, having to listen to somebody in the commentary team gobbing into a bucket like an old western. It's not the first match I’ve heard it but tonight it must have happened 3 or 4 times tonight.
