...after watching Boots N' All last night it seems they all want Potter to win it !

How many times do we have to hear the sob story about how the coaching staff and players deserve every credit going for the ongoings at the club !!

I agree - Potter should win it..............if they would have had to offload numerous top players when going into admin, pulling in youth and reserve team players and still making the 8. That would be impressive.

But no - they 'may' make the 8 with exactly the same team they have had all year. Not one player has been sold whilst in admin and on the playing front nothing has changed in the slightest.

Coach of the Year ?
To be fair, Eddie was the one who said that. Carney has previously said Agar would be in with a shout but equally he said it should go to the coach who is winning stuff, like Smith or Wane.
McDermott and O'Connor were very pro Wakefield in previous discussions.

I don't think they are against us at all and to be honest, they just want to generate interest. They'll soon stop talking about Bradford if we take the 8th spot.

I wonder how many of our own fans would have believed we would be reading an article like this at the start of the season!

I do think he will be in with a big shout!

I would disagree that we have been lucky with injuries.

Paul Aiton and Steve Southern would at the beginning of the season be seen as our biggest signings. its only because we are strong in those positions that we have managed their injuries well.
Ali was out for a while too and we've had to play Cowling in centre because of injury.

Phil Clarke has also stated on TV that if Wakefield got into the 8 he would back Agar to be Coach of the Year. In my opinion we have been fortunate with injuries, Southern and Aiton being the worst hit, Ali out for a bit as well. Most teams lose far more player for long periods during a season.

We have been lucky with injuries in the context that we haven't had several at the same time and none have been for a long spell. Also the players that have replaced them have really stepped up and done a job for us.

People discount the contribution that good fitness and conditioning makes towards preventing injuries and recovering from them more quickly when they do happen; that's not luck - it's entirely deliberate.

As a wise person once said - I'm a great believer in luck and I find that the harder I work, the more of it I have.

Richard Agar is a great shout for coach of the year by the way, although I suspect that Tony Smith will get it when Wire do the double.

Ah.. but if we beat wire in the play offs it will tip it in agars favour IMHO.

Don't tempt fate!

As coaches are fond of saying, we take it one game at a time - I'd hate us to be complacent against an improving Widnes side and for the dream to die in such ignominious fashion.

I never tempt fate but I do tend to make the odd 'tongue in cheek' comment on here.
