Didn't our Henderson play for Scotland? Lets face it if Chase or Henderson were good enough they'd be playing for their 'real' countries but they aren't so they settle for the next best thing much as the likes of Brough do with Scotland when they can't get in the England team. We will never catch the Aussies/Kiwis if we continue to select players that they deem not good enough to play for them.

Seems strange that the RFL have an immigration section. Let the people whose job it is decide nationality. If they are committed enough and eligible to hold a British passport, then they can be considered for selection.

I'd go along with that except for I would insist that if they had previously played for a different Nation then they should not be considered.
Once you nail your colours to the mast that should be it for me. None of this "I played for Scotland because I couldn't get in the England team but now the players who were in front of me are gone I want to play for England" or "Yes I was a junior kiwi and it was always my dream to play for NZ but as they won't pick me I'll choose a country that will"

Players should choose their country and stick to it, even if it means them not playing internationally, they should not be aloowed to change nationailities at the drop of a hat just to get a game IMO.

The clubs need to look at themselves as well. Why aren't they developing talent good enough to make it in to the international squads? Often because their progress is stunted by imports who aren't actually that good and they will learn nothing from.

I think the counter-argument for this is that the easiest way for RL to grow in certain areas is to let those players not good enough/not good anymore be allowed to play for their "2nd choice" nation - and I am thinking mainly Australians/Kiwis playing for the Island nations once they are no longer good enough to play for Oz/NZ. Not saying I agree with it by any means, but I think this is part of the reason why they dont just have the system whereby you can't change countries once you have chosen.
