This article certainly lowers my view of someone who was a long established big name at his club which he served so well.
With what happened to Hock and hear that Alker used recreational drugs without being caught is a concern. Probably more importantly I wonder if his reference to HGH is similar to that used by Terry Newton?
Alker may want to reveal warts and all, however it sounds like a very disappointing state of affairs of someone who was a hero to (so) many.

Simple action here, which I'm sure most would have done regardless, don't buy his book.
I know Sean Long got slagged off for what he wrote in his, but not of his misdemeanours were dealt with within the sport while he played. Alker will get away scot free for his revelations.
Makes you question all that guff about how great he was making so many tackles now, doesn't it?

As I said on the VT - I'd have respect for a current player who whistleblew about drug use in an attempt to educate and protect younger players; I have significantly less respect for a former player who only chooses to blow the whistle when his career is over and he has a book to sell.

I seem to remember that in his book Terry Newton claimed to be getting his supply of HGH from a Lancashire based player but refused to name him.
