| I know some of you will consider me an old fuddy-duddy or making something out of nothing, but as a proud fan of our proud club this is very important to me.
Today, yet again I was ashamed at the behaviour of a very, very small minority of our fans.
One middle aged fan a few rows behind me tried to start a fight with a guy two rows in front with his children present. The poor guy in the middle row was being struck by some wild punches from the guy behind and he wasn't even involved.
The stewards did attend in the end and had a quiet word. From what I could see nothing more came from it and I hope that is the case after the end of the match.
Also just in the last couple of minutes there was an incident with a fired up young lad amongst the singing brigade. Stewards went to attend and whilst I don't know what the commotion was over the young lad was full of adrenalin. I suspect the amount of alcohol conumsed by this group might have been a factor.
To be honest this group of young lads do add some pleasant atmosphere with what is generally good natured singing, although I have reservations over some of the language.
I suspose like what a teacher or your mum would say, "I don't care who started it". Just behave yourselves!!!
Please remember that in these situations you are a reflection on the club we all support. I like to think that we have the best fans in the game yet in recent years I'm seeing more and more unsavoury situations involving our fans.
Whilst both situations today did not amount to much, I think people should act more sensibly and certainly be more reasonable in their consumption of drink if they cannot handle it.
These people will get to see another day and I will see them on the terraces again. But please don't cast a dark cloud over our proud club.
There are a number of teams in the league where we have a suspicion of ill behaved fans, I don't ever want to be a fan of a club with a bad reputation.
Consider me harsh, but I'm so ashamed of this type of behaviour that I would ban these people for life. Strong feelings I know but I'm protecting the reputation of our club.

I Agree they add to the atmosphere and start most of the chants. But they could all do with a wash and a clip round the ear. Why were they chanting about Stephen senssengeon?

| Saw three of these lads before the game, looked like they were experiencing their first pints and could not handle it. Need to be banned if this type of behaviour happens again.

I think the incident you refer to was near where I was sat. From what I understand the guy at the back was constantly "effing and jeffing" and the guy a few rows in front with the young children told him to stop it
and the guy in the middle also told him to stop it. He took exception to being told to stop swearing and wanted to fight.
There is no place in our game for this. We want people to be able to bring their kids to games and not have to suffer people swearing and then being "offered outside" when they are told to stop.

Before you come on here, slagging of EVERYONE in the group, Find out who we're the ones singing about sessengeon and using a ridiculous amount of inappropriate language, and go see them.
As I stand with them, at every game, I can say they're not bad lads/lasses, just a SMALL minority of the group cannot handle their beer, and take things too far!

| To be fair I was more ashamed of the not so light middle aged bloke who tried to start a fight with someone with his kids. I think someone called out his name later on, might have been "Andy"? Either way a few of the older generation stood at the back of the stand (more central to the young lads) knew who this guy was.
I think if the young lads keep in good spirits and respect the ale they will be a welcome part of our support. I like to think we have a singing contingent as nothing has ever quite replicated the humour and songs I remember from of old. My favourite was at Thrum Hall in the late 80's when we were fighting off relegation. We came back from around 18-4 down at half time to nick it in the second half. The fans and singing were buzzing, my favourite memory is singing "You are my Conway, my Billy Conway". Then the match ended with "We're not going home until we get Dave Toplis".
Good humoured singing is most welcome. Fighting fans of any generation are not what being a rugby league fan is all about. We are promoted as a family game.
If I was Glover I would get their details and either give a very stern final warning or simply a lifetime ban.
Years ago at the Boulevard, Shane Richardson chair of Hull went into the crowd at the Boulevard and publicly pulled out trouble making fans and ejected them from the ground. This was in front of the full stadium. I admire the man for this.

it was all tim smiths fault! i was sat behind the guy and can confirm the fightette was all due to tim smith being the worst player in living memory, dont think we can actually say it was a fight as such, but it always seems to be the older end at wakey for some reason, I think al the fights ive seen are people over 50, which means in 2 years if my mate who i go with annoys me im gonna clock him, hey hes had it coming!

I think your last paragraph has said it all. That's exactly the type of 'fan' we don't want!

I know this, and most of the group knows this,
but I was getting at the fact he tied everyone in with a small minority.

one of my first posts on here was about what we "die hards" seem to think we can expect from our fan base, some of the points i will repeat here;
1 we need more people to go to our games especially at home, if you have about 100 fans you wil have about 1 knob, with a 1000 its 10 knobs, with 10000 is a mob of knobs, but we need the numbers. Sorry but all sports are the same as society.
2 we seem as die hards to think we can "vet" who comes and deem as to their appropriateness, we cant, the gentlemans club era got us broke and almost closed down, ill put up with a few naughty words if we survive, and i swear at games anyway, just in a more intellegent way!
3 to be fair the older end are as bad as the kids, except slightly less ugly of course, as im one of them.
and at the end of the day, if you are next to someone whos annoying you..........................move!

Mate coming from someones who really old this issues cropped up before, they just need calming down and to be made to understand they represent us all.
Grow some nads and tell them next time you meet up that it stops, if they ignore you then pass it on to the club, its your club mate don't let them spoil it.

| May I at this point interject and say that the guys who are the main stay of all the chanting that does the club so proud are in no way to blame for the behaviour witnessed today, on the contrary a large contingent that travel on the graziers bus were indeed disgusted as we journeyed home tonight so can I ask that you don’t tar all with the same brush.
