| "Methinks they doth protest too much".
It's a knee-jerk reaction to the fact that the news about their problems was just about to become public.

It would strongly suggest that tricky dicky reads this forum. The first leak was posted on here and he has reacted to it. If the original thread hadn't been started I would imagine he would have kept quiet.
I wonder how many 'put backs' it will take before cas fans start to become suspicious

The info is actually "out" somewhere else, but it was eluded not here subsequently.
DW is quickly losing wriggle room.
Opus are playing their own game and have an interest in more than 1 site in Cas. Their duty is to the client - Cas Tigers are not the client and if, as looks likely, the "other" site comes to fruition first, the WR plan will be chip wrappers.

| Having read the press release it alludes to its client, supposedly Tesco, having other site options. Its been previously stated by RW and others just a couple of weeks ago that there is only room for one new supermarket in the area, surely this delay only gives another developer working with one of the other supermarkets (and the statement makes out there is other interested parties) the time to get in there with planning permission first and thus gain the avantage? If that goes through first then the WR plan is dead in the water. I would have thought time is of the essence or Tesco don't get their store so why would they delay and let someone else jump in elsewhere?

| Bottom line is Tesco have told Opus that WR is undeliverable in a realistic time frame.
Opus are working hard to convince them that it is, but are also working equally hard on delivering "site X" for Tesco (which Tesco have decided is preferred due to the problems with WR).
They know there will only be 1 site developed for retail in Cas and are trying to block the rival Aire St development (its size matters not - there will only be 1), whilst trying to secure a suitable site for them.
Time is the key and that is not on the side of a WR development.
Opus work for Tesco, not Cas Tigers.

It is "Fifita" not "Fafita"
If you don't know the difference between "there", "their" and "they're" I might get annoyed.

| Worrying times indeed. I genuinely hope Cas get some better fortune in this matter and are able to progress.
My priority is always Wakefield, that is where my heart is. I do want the local region to prosper though in RL. I remember the great days of regular derbies with Cas and Fev as well as the Loiners. To return to the WMDC triangle of RL would be great for genuine, heritage RL fans. The game can expand but should not be at the sacrifice of true clubs.
Newmarket, I sincerely hope will happen. The fact Leeds CC seem so objectionable is a disgrace. If suggestions that Wright is supporting the nimbys then he is only alienating sections of his near neighbours. I want Wakefield v Cas to continue, neither club should suffer.
I have already told the RFL directly that they should not penalise clubs for trying and our clubs have been trying for many years to improve/obtain new facilities. It is not for lack of wanting.
I take no joy in other peoples pain.

And with other sites they won't have the cost of building a rugby stadium.
If Opus are the only developer at work in the area, working for a particular client and are involved in all sites available, then as you say they are obliged to go with whats best for their client. If they pick another site then with the knowledge that only one supermarket is sustainable the they would pull out of the agreement with Castleford.
If Opus are dealing as agents for Cas and there are other supermarkets interested in the site that they are in discussions with then it would mean that the original client could well have gone for a different site with a different developer. Obviously that would mean that a race to get FPP would then be underway and then its a game of cat & mouse. A potential four month delay would be bad news if this is the case.
The best case scenario in all this is that Wheldon Road is deemed to be the best site and a bidding war ensues. But other sites have been known to be interested in selling for retail for a long time and after 8 months you would have thought the research would have been done and the decision made by now if the client was going to go with the ground option. Why let your competiton get a look in if you want it yourself?
I get the feeling that this is a very 'political' press release and theres more to come out in the new year.

| I see it as good news for Cas, Tesco have looked around for the best option and have decided to pick WR There objection on the WMDC website to the Edinburgh House scheme supports this. If they had not chosen WR why would they spend their time and money fighting another possible supermarket site?
We have bigger worries in getting 240 acres of green belt land transferred in to brown belt. I think we would be better spending our time in supporting that.

| I'm a Cas fan, and in my opinion I do not think we will ever see the stadium being built, at least in the next 5 years, and the conclusion being we will not get a license next time around, I do honestly think that.

Of course we have our own worries, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't discuss other happenings.
You miss the point about the WR situation. Tesco haven't decided on WR, they have decided on building in Cas. They object to the rival Aire St build because of this.
Tesco's current opinion is that a "different" site in Cas is most deliverable, not WR. If Aire St gets the go ahead, neither the "other site", nor WR will happen. They won't give permission for 2 retail outlets at this time.
First past the post wins!
