| After the euphoria of over 1,000 fans turning up at Cedar Court recently everything seems to have gone very quiet and performances on the field have fallen to an unacceptable level.
Is there something the club and the players know but the mugs (err... supporters aren't being told)?
There was a lack of effort and enthusiasm at yesterday's game which worried me.
Not much mention of any developments starting and our youth policy of fielding english players which so pleased the supporters has been shelved in favour of playing (for 15 mins) an overweight, unfit aussie and an equallyunfit former player, the wrong side of 30 who couldn't even get in a useless Leeds rah rah team.
Some answers please.

| we've not been told we're out of superleague, but the players' agents have decided to tell the players that we are out.
who know's what the truth is, but that's what you're seeing the fallout from on the field.
development can't start until after a pi.

| You'd think even if we were out players would be giving it all in the SL shop window.

Lined up only by verbal agreement, since anything else would be a breach of the rules?
Given that, if by some miracle we're awarded a SL licence, I'd guess that several of those verbal agreements won't come to fruition, as we'll be able to make SL offers to the players in question; or at least the ones we want to make SL offers to.
So - at this point, all that's actually happened is that players and/or their representatives have put contingency plans in place for next season, in the event that we're booted out of SL.
It's not very exciting I know, but it actually sounds quite sensible.

it doesn't work like that though does it. in order to give your best you have to be set up to do so. this isn't yorkshire league 4 where if you're a trier you stand out, this is pro level and the training and preparation and cohesiveness of the squad and their coaching staff throughout the week are what sets performances up.
players can't fake togetherness.

| This was news to me, but yesterday I was told that Crusaders and Harlequins have nothing to worry about, they both have a franchise for the next three years.

It may have been news to you, but I don't think it is to anyone on here; the 'expansion' clubs have always been considered sacred cows and as such, not at risk.

I think you may be underestimating the power agents hold over the players on their books who by and large are easily manipulated - that's how these slugs work. The deals have been done and the players will move if their agent tells them. He will because he will almost certainly make more from a move by fair means or foul. Some clubs have very close ties with certain agents and it's not in the agents best interest to bite the hand that feeds. Unless we make a spectacularly better offer the said player will go where he is told and we can do very little about it.

| The cold hard fact is that if you were a super league player and there was a major doubt that you would be playing SL next season, you would be trying to secure a place elsewhere.
At the end of the day its the players living we are talking about and the rast of the coaching staff etc.
I know its been said may times befroe, but if we were on the brink of relegation in the proper manner, the players would chose whether to roll their sleeves up and have a dig, or jump ship.
With the present system none of this matters, its all about a nice ground, with nice seats and a check list of other stuff where we need to tick boxes.
RL is supposed to be a sport, but the contest now takes second place to politics and "expansion"
