31007_1580947500.jpg EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_31007.jpg |

| Although things seem gloomy at the moment, it is possible to think positively about certain things. Alright, not quite as positively as I thought this time last week, but still possible.
In relation to the ground issue, we know now that we will not be in Newmarket for 2012, but quite possibly for 2013. At least we know what the position is well in advance of the franchise date. It means that we can base our application entirely on a stadium that is of Super League standard (so we are told), rather than on a ground that we haven't started to build. This could, arguably, put us in a strong position, except on the point of attendances versus capacity.
In relation to the rumour about players being told that they are in the shop window, I don't mind if it's true. I call it good motivational talk, using the gloom to get the most out of the players. If they play like they are in the shop window, then we might be in a good league position by franchise time, with crowds to reflect it, which can only help.
What the fans should not do is stay away because of the feeling that it is all pointless. The gloom should be a call to arms, because if fans stay away, and finances suffer, we start to look like a failing franchise, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. People should turn up just to keep the club alive, because come decision day, we might be able to present ourselves as a club on the up, with a good league position, crowds on the increase, and a definite move to a superior stadium. To me, that sounds like a good franchise bid.
So for all those people who know stay-aways, get their butts back to Belle Vue, because that could be crucial.
If the worst does happen, I would look to stay at Belle Vue in the lower league, just until Newmarket is sorted. It keeps the club in the city, means that we can stabilise and maintain income, because we have to be able to put a winning side on the park. We could have the best stadium in the world, but it will mean nothing if we don't qualify to make a bid in 2015 by winning something.
So, New Year, new start.

| Well said sluggy.
If we get booted out of superleague, not only will I continue to not pay my council tax, I will camp outside rfl headquarters with a vuvuzela until we are reinstated.
Whether or not our ground is ready in the next few years, harlequeens and crusaders have no right to be in superleague ahead of a great club like ours.

| Yes well said Slugger, the point you made about stopping at Belle Vue, if we could for another year, thinking about it ,especially in the current housing slump, may not be unrealistic The company that bought the ground, may be thankful, if it was delayed a little longer, till the house prices went up again and considering they still have to pay a large amount of money as well could be another factor. But this scenario would mean we would drop down a league and hopefully wait till Newmarket went ahead and come back stronger in the next franchise bid.

| I'm stilll voting with my feet until I get some feedback that we have started to play a bit more of an entertaining brand of RL. I Don't mind losing (season ticket every year except last), but I just straight up refuse to spend £18 to stand out in the elements yawning at endless one man rugby.

a) It's rare I have £175 disposable income
b) even if I did, then still £175 to risk the same old "up the jumper" for 13 games, again not real value.
The point is, I have gone from having a season ticket every year religiously to the point where now I don't actually want to go to games. I'll buy the home and away shirts again this year, still attend the audience with events and so on, but our on the field "product" isn't enough to tempt me to part with my hard earned at the moment. I would surmise that if the club can't get a seasoned spectator like me through the turnstyles, they are gonna have a hard job attracting brand new fans.
Also, season before last i didn't have a season ticket and I went to every home game, so its not like I just don't like not having a season ticket - I'v just felt ripped off the last 5 - 6 games I've been to. Hopefully the new season will bring a new style to the team.
