| The contracts have been signed today for the build element of the new Salford Community Stadium, so it is very much a done deal now guys.
rlhttp://www.salford.gov.uk/pr-10-2754.htmrl
Congratulations to them and I suspect this will secure there Super League Franchise for the next three year period. Lets hope that Wakefield and Castleford follow suit very soon and put the RFL under pressure for very positive reasons and both clubs will secure their Super League futures.
As an aside, the Salford scheme is a very similar concept (with retail as opposed to distribution space of course) to the Wakefield Community Stadium proposals, so lets hope Mr Pickles sees sense and doesn't make the same mistake his predecessor did and send Newmarket to PI, like they did in Salford, for it to be subsequently & overwhelmingly proven as suitable by the PI.

| Congratulations.
I hope that we can reach this point in considerably less time than Salford have taken - but it does show just how hard it is to get there.
Well done to Salford!

I understand the main reason ours was called in was because a neighbouring authority (Manchester) objected to the retail element. They them withdrew the objection before the PI started so we had the ridiculous situation on the first day of the inquiry of everyone being on the same side and there being no objectors. The irony is that the retail will most likely not appear for a good few years.

Pft. It's only been 14 years.
And best of luck with yours.

you always seem to turn a postitive into a negative don't you?!
It's only going to be 12,000 at first which will rise to 20,000 in the future if needs be. It might not be full every week but at least we will be in Super League playing in it whereas still at The Willows we couldn't guarentee that. I can guarentee however we will have a lot more people in the COSS than we do now at the Willows
Anyway..........
Good Luck Wakey hope yours comes through a lot quicker than our drawn out process, I was 11 when this talk started and now it's finally here and began it feels great, hopefully you will get the green light soon.
When is the date you next hear something?

The Secretary of State office has written to Wakefield MDC informing them they require a little more time to reach a decision beyond the guided 28 days but this now leaves it a little open-ended. As such, it could be today, tomorrow, next week but it will be very soon and I would think it will be no longer than maybe another 2 weeks and I am 99.9% certain before Christmas at the absolute worst... this is the fun bit, not knowing!
Either way, we still don't think it will be called in and suspect that if they were going to do so, they would have done it already! No news is good news in this case... maybe!

I reckon a good game of 'Just a Minute' is on the agenda at the Armadillo household - should be a doddle to the Inflated one - 'what, only one?'
