passion for the club,
there was a time that local players wanted to play for their local side not any more,
its all down to how much money they can get from the game, without getting political today's get rich quick society just don't give a damn and the only way I could see a successful side staying together is being brought through the ranks as friends and team mates, the young U18s that won their year some have signed others moved on, but not many ready to break through the ranks
instill a want to play for the badge and then we will have a side, this should be done at an early age, then we can compete with the likes of Saints and the whinos

| Screwed up my holiday, whether he puts on a free coach or not (any yes, I know that suggestion from the OP was tongue in cheek).
I'd been hoping to treat myself to a trip to Salford, but if the players can't be d, then I'd sooner spend the money on my kids.
The academy are playing Cas away while I'm over. How are they getting on? Is it worth taking a trip over to Cas to support them instead? I'm sure they'll care more about the shirt, and if there's something to be played for, I'd rather be there.

here's their fixture list and results

Perhaps we should start with having a proper badge that says "Wakefield" not just a cartoon cat!!!

Maybe not but if it continues like this will there be anybody left to care?

Without wishing to devalue any of the fantastic work you have done over the last few years in making sure there was a voice of the fans when it came to issues about the new stadium, surely it would be far better if our future was wholly reliant on the playing side???
The 2006 squad was certainly no better than the current crop (on paper at least) but because the future of the club (and therefore the livelihood of the players contracted for 2007 & Beyond) was totally reliant on the performances on the pitch, the battle was there right to the end.
Like just about every other fan I have taken no enjoyment from the dreadful performances this year, but if grinding a result out a couple more times would have meant something in the last few weeks I'm sure we wouldn't be seeing the players giving up after going 2 or 3 tries down every week.

| Due to the utter capitulation by both sets of players, they should play it behind closed doors.

Quite agree - put me in the P&R category anyday - then, when our backs are against the wall, we usually come out fighting.
I reckon all this licence stuff is a complete distraction from the main event, but you have to say that if, as a result of licencing, several clubs get new grounds, then there is a genuine legacy for the game. The challenge is then to have enough clubs with suitable facilities to be able to offer P&R in the knowledge of the challenging clubs being strong enough to command a place in SL.

Which is exactly why the licensing should expand to say 20 teams, but with a 14 team SL. That way only those clubs with sustainable business models can get into SL, but the ultimate right to be there depends on what is delivered on the field.

That's an interesting idea - and they're effectively doing that by vetting the wannabe's first.
My idea, based on the idea of allowing 1 up 1 down each year, would be to allow each promoted team 2 years in SL minimum - i.e. protection for year 1. The models of Catalans and Crusaders have shown that after the 1st year a club can hold it's own. If you don't - then you get replaced. This way there is a chance for a club annually from the Championship and that would make that competition more intense - as well as adding spice at the bottom of SL - without having the same teams trading place each year.

Good idea. I feel sorry for Fev, winners of their League and no promotion. Does it happen in any other sport.
