[b:x70mwo3o]my girlfriend says i'm immature, and it's time we set aside one day a week so we can talk things through as adults. like THAT'S gonna happen in the middle of conker season!![/b:x70mwo3o]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_51886.jpg

"The Council has given each club assets to a value of £2m ,subject to a review in September to ascertain the progress made in respect of both planning permission and a robust financial plan being in place. We have also offered officer support. That position has not changed.

"In September, a decision will be made as to whether the £2m facility should be extended. I expect that offer will remain on the table. However, in view of the Council 's budget position, no further financial help will be available from the Council beyond the £2m offer.

"We want to support Rugby League across the district. It is part of our heritage, we are proud of our clubs and want to see them do well. But I can only stress that it is not the core business of this Council - or indeed any council - to determine where Rugby League clubs play. That must be a matter for the clubs alone."

So weve been through all that e for nothing to have changed, apart from the fact that they may call in the land in september.
What a load of

is it me or does the wording seem slightly defensive?
as if after his previous statement in the WE (and subsequent meeting and counter statements) that he/they have been told not to interfere with the stadium locations and get on with running the district.

good news though, at least everyone's postion is clear now

Correct. Give the Outline Consent and a detailed application for the stadium and infrastructure can be submitted and we can get on with it. Could even start building Spring/Summer 2011.

And before anyone says there will be a Public Inquiry which will put is back 12 months or more there wont be (IMO). The current Government will NOT spend time and money on a PI, they will leave the decision to Wakefield MDC.

So Wakefield MDC, its up to you, do you want a Community Stadium for the benefit of the Wakefield District or not - its up to you.

rRE: The Statement from Wakefield Council.

I am starting to feel more relaxed again now, looks like Wakey did what they did to get Box and themselves out of a sticky situation in regards to the feasibility study, as it would clearly have shown that Cas Stadium was light years ahead and the best option by far, so by wakey doing what they did on Sunday, it stopped the whole process from making Wakey look rubbish and also saved Box from looking like he was trying to show the Wakey scheme up in light of all the contraversy over his connections with the Tigers.......Hmm must have been an interesting meeting last week!!

Does this mean that all these Wakey fans on here can stop doing cart wheels because they think my beloved Cas tigers were looking into an Abyss ............. Yes i think so!!

Now you Pussy cats can go and get depressed about how Garbage your team is at this moment in time without any other distractions.

Who to.....who to be ..........Who to be a CAS FAN!!!!!!

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs, the people that came in. They're eating the cats! They're eating the pets!:18686.jpg

Part of statement in Wakey Express 16-07-2010

But yesterday, council leader Peter Box revealed the £4m worth of financial support would not be available to the clubs from September, unless they could agree to share a home.

And yesterday councillor Box said

Part of statement today 27-07-2010
Cllr Peter Box, Leader of Wakefield Council, said he had written to both Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Castleford Tigers, making it clear that it is not part of the Council's core business to determine where rugby league clubs play.
"The Council has given each club assets to a value of £2m,subject to a review in September to ascertain the progress made in respect of both planning permission and a robust financial plan being in place. We have also offered officer support. That position has not changed.
"In September, a decision will be made as to whether the £2m facility should be extended. I expect that offer will remain on the table. However, in view of the Council 's budget position, no further financial help will be available from the Council beyond the £2m offer.

So in the space of eleven days we have a total u-turn.
What a bunch of wasters they are at W.M.D.C, a great way to treat the people who employ them.

Absolutely; calling in for a PI would be totally counterintuitive to the Con-Dem's stated aim to reduce government interference in local issues. It would also be very expensive. For both those reasons, I really can't see it happening.

Considering where we are now, I'd say WMDC now have a duty to fast-track the planning and get the whole thing moving; if they continue to drag their heels, they could potentially cost the district much needed sporting facilities and employment opportunities, both coming at no cost to the districts council tax payers.

Tigers for life!!! Not Just for Superleague!!!:38175.jpg

I hope both teams can now crack on and get the stadiums built and keep the SL lisences for a very long time.

Then in 2012 or whatever we can have a monumental derby in front of 15000 at Glasshoughton or Newmarket on good friday and show that this area can sustain 2 SL teams!!

A winning team always attracts/holds on to fans so the fact that you were winning each week in NL1 was a major factor. I note that you are now losing fans due to the early season indifferent form. Fans are very fickle - winning is everything.

I read the council statement to read that the £2m land loans are up for review in September and hinting that they will be withdrawn. This statement from the club wakefieldwildcats.co.uk/2010/07/stadium-update/ suggest otherwise! icon_confused.gif
