Wildcats set to make announcement concerning their move to a new stadium

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will make a significant statement concerning their plans to move to a new stadium in 2012 at half-time during their Round 23 Engage Super League fixture against St Helens at Belle Vue Stadium tomorrow (Sunday).

James Elston, the Wildcats’ Chief Executive, said today (Saturday): “There has been a considerable amount of speculation concerning where this club will play once we leave Belle Vue at the end of 2011 season.

“During the last week or so our fans will have seen in the local, regional and nation media a great deal of information and it’s our intention to put the record straight.

“So that they know exactly what’s happening to the project, our chairman Mr Ted Richardson will make an important announcement from the pitch concerning the proposed Wakefield and District Community Trust Stadium and the club’s involvement with the project during the halftime interval.

“We’ve spent a great deal of time during the last two weeks discussing the project with Wakefield and District Community Stadium Trust, Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and developers of the Newmarket site, Yorkcourt Properties.

“Now we’re in a position to say something meaningful to the fans and as the club’s paying customers it is only right that they should be the first to hear about the development and hear about it from the chairman.”

At last the fans will be getting the information we have been asking for. Let's hope its the choice we want.

Having read what has been said by the club and the way they have decided to make the announcment i can only see this being a good statement or just a way of keeping us up to date. There is no way in hell that Ted would come onto the pitch at half time and tell all our fans that we are going to be playing in Glasshoughton for the foreseeable future!

The statement does not even mention Cas Tigers or Glasshoughton! I will keep my fingers crossed but i have good feelings about this

As I find it impossible to believe either N.M, or G.H. will be ready for 2012, this soumds like an interim move, possibly to Oakwell.

I think you willl probabbly be right about that, the news cant be that you will be playing at NM as that does not have planning yet and there is no way richardson would stand in the middle of the pitch and say you would be playing at GH, unless he has had enough of life that is.

I think Ted is going to be our next MC and tell us at half time that

Your refusing to get involved and have pulled out of the independant review of where the best place for a shared stadium is going to be

and your basis for that statment is?

It's better to pull out and make a bit of a mess here and now than stay in to long and end up in an even bigger mess further down the line.
