| Unfortunately not a topic about the pub!!!!
More about reflecting on a damp, miserable night at Belle Vue,that played host to a shockingly poor performance by Wakey.
Ive actually waited for my blood pressure to fall before posting and tried to look for some postives.
Well,i found on positive.
Glenn Morrison would make a decent captain.
To all those that dont like"King Kear" being critisized or individuals being critisized -- turn away now!!!!!!
Shocking team selection by Kear to select a specialist winger as an interchange player.Once again Kear has shown that when he has a selection problem - he bottles it!!Realistically he had to chose three of Murphy,Morton,Blaymire and Blanch to fill three postions. He should have had the courage to do so and not bottle it by putting Blanch on the bench. The decision then early in the first half to put Blanch on and move Murphy into the second row, was ludicrous.Unfortunately Kear has had selection problems before,(Drew/Brough/Latu/Obst/Grix) -- he never made his mind up on that scenario last season.
And i dont believe for one minute King wasnt fit for selection - i think Kear bottled it.And if King wasnt available due to illness,we could have still drafted another player in.
Poor old Murphy must wonder what hes done wrong ,having to make way for Blaymire.I dont think Murphy will ever actually make it as a top flight wing or centre, then in a masterstroke he ends up at full back and it looks like theres a future there for him.Now it appears he was just keeping Blaymires seat warm.
JD -- great servant to the club and a true pro.
But just what does he bring to the team, whether playing second
row or LF.I see no dimension of his play that know merits automatic
selection in the first 17.
Gleeson -- You really can see why Wigan and Huddersfield didnt want to retain him. Defensively cack.Morton would have got more assistance from Stephen Hawkins!!
Brough - on tonights performance he wouldnt be missed.Looked like a player seeing out his contract and was defensively poor.
Obst --- Yes he gives effort, but is he really worth an overseas quota spot.
Two intercept passes thrown out tonight.
Blaymire -- Slow, cack postional sense and does a stupid arcing run when hes returning the ball, that just wastes yardage.
We have the cash to fill two spaces -- we need a prop and centre urgently.
I have calmed down, yet still feel it was an embarrasingly shocking performance.
In fact,in a weird way,i wish the performance could be attributed to other factors,eg.the players havent been paid/the players had a fall out when playing poker. But alas i fear the case tonight from coaching staff throughout the majority of the team,is we arent good enough.
The openings wins have lulled people into a false sense of security.Again, being realsitic,we narrowly beat a Harlequins team missing a host of regulars,we stuttered to an unconvincing win against a poor Catalans team that was missing key players.Yes we played well against Leeds.

| Is Ferguson our future star at loose forward? Surely it's better to put him there now, and become the key pivot he seems destined to be, and let Demetriou do the donkey work in the second row if he really merits that 'automatic' selection.
Those who live in the past are destined to stay there.

| I agree with quite a bit about what you are saying and I would like to add a little myself.
JK yes I think at times he has selection issues especially when he has everyone fit. After what I hear tonight we will be lucky to find 17 players fit enough for next week.
JK signings, I also think he sometimes looks at players on the old side. Perfect example was when he took domic to Hull. I just hope KING,Johnson and JD can see out this season.
Gleeson, yes you are right he has serious issues in defence.
Brough bit harsh about last night as only true half back we had after 5 minutes and behind a beaten pack
Obst I think you are spot on.
JD I am really worrried about the guy. I thought he had a stinker last night and was one of the first to drop off tackles. Also to be fair he had a stinker at saints but that was masked by a good team performance. He wasn't that good either in the other games defence wise. I really thought it was asking a little two much when he got a two year contract and I now think he is playing in a season too many. He has been a great club player and I would hate it for him to struggle along for the rest of the season and go out on a low.

Now before The Clan pointed out that Danny did well just to play following a very nasty head injury i would agree that he did not perform but now I would say that that is very unfair on Brough hes being in great form for us this season what with BJs injury after just 5 minutes last night we had both halfbacks injured not helped by the fact our pack got battered
We are not far away i do think that we should have spent the King/Johnson wages to keep Snitch
I think most would agree we need 1 if not 2 props a 2nd rower and a decent centre we have the Newton money plus maybe Bibb but can we offload King and Johnson doubt it

| sam was trying to chase the game with the 2 over enthusiastic passes.. agree with the comment about blanch on the bench. after the start to the season blaymire has to earn his place back, murphy excelled at full back and should be given a go until he drops off.

I would agree with you on the 3 points
Like Sam 100% week in week out but he is a poor mans Rob Burrow and I have always said not worth a quota spot but with our limited funds could we do better thats the problem

Interesting, sitting in the top 10 tackle busts and only one of two Wakey players in the top 25, Aaron Murphy being the other.
Then check out the missed tackels prior to this weeks game, not one Wakey player in the top 25.

Having not seen the game, I can only guess a bad attitude was the problem.

| having watched it again i struggled to be clear who was playing where sometimes, especially defensively, and you only need to look at the first ten minutes to know we had no hope, the body language was awful, this morning im almost hoping its some external factor because if any coach watches that match then the areas to target are blindingly obvious, what the betting on an all forward bench from kr on friday??
We are too light, its a simple as that for me, and for gods sake lets stop playing players out of position!

And that for me is the major problem JK seems to have,he when he as full squad or options to pick from,he gets it wrong. However he seems to excel in the reverse situation.
