| I'm criminally back in Exeter as of last Sunday, and, though knowing it would be futile, I've asked around to see if any pub would be showing the match on Sky tonight... one response summed it up when I asked if there were any pubs or bars that would show "better sports" (disguised with the intonation of a joke but in fact a very serious assertion) and the response was, "Not loikely mate, this is the south of England."
I'm very sad that I won't be able to watch our historic play-off match

I was in Totnes (not too far away) when we played saints. I persuaded a pub to put the game on in the tap room, by the end of the night everyone was cheering Wakey. Try a bit harder you may win some friends

Well may you laugh but the day of the Brisbane Wigan world club challenge match my family was in Cornwall, got no joy out of any pubs as it was on early doors so my old man knocked on about 20 doors asking if they would take £20 to allow us into there home and watch the game and slap on tea and toast, eventually someone agreed and although its been perhaps 5 years since we had contact with them they were to that day Wigan fans from that game on....and they never took the £20! Bargin!

Best way to counter this (speaking as someone who lives in Kent) is to get a few mates down for a weekend - the more the better, walk into said pub on a Friday night as a big gang, sort out (loudly, so as to get the landlord's attention) who's drinking what, look at the telly, say: "hang on, the rugby's not on", then walk out.
Eight of us. Worked a charm at my local...
