I love this city,
this is my town.
We get a week out, without a doubt,
gunna sing it out loud.

| So Trinity fans if you were John "The King" Kear what would you be planning for next year.
The more i think about it and the more i read on Kain Southernwood the more i think we should offer grix his chance at no.6 and bring Southernwood gently throughout the year.
I would personally look for a big name and a winger (Aspinwall?) with the cap space we have left and the fee for Ryan Atkins.

| Does it not depend who on who becomes availab;e and at what price?????
I think if Jk wants Grix to become a stand off then he needs to play him there.

| we have gone seasons ans seasons now without a top class stand off, and if we keep danny b, and with is pack we are assembling it would be a crime not to bring one in, and yes id search the nlr for someone young and out of favour / contract preferably a line attacking one.
the rest i can cope with but too many times in last 5 years we have been one dimentional in attack, DB makers teams think and we need his SO to do the same, will i attack you or pass??? see joel tomkins or a good example, players stand off him because he can do both.
to me this is our biggest quest for the summer, i hear and see the southernwood arguements but i personally would love to see a class OZ stand off at BV next year.

| I think the jury is still out on how effective a Brough/Grix half-back partnership would operate, after all they have only started 2 games together at 6 & 7 this season.
It is a shame that our lack of wingers has meant that Grix has had to deputise there so often, especially after playing so well at stand-off for Ireland in the WC.
Personally I would like to see Grix being given an extended run at 6 as we need someone to play off Brough, rather than to compete with him for who dictates the plays (look at the problems last season when Brough and Drew first started playing together).

i personally would not be using our limited resources on a winger. they are under used and the money can be better spent on a decent 6/13 imo with southernwood eased in gently if he's good enough and ready

We might get aspinwall on a fee if we let grix go to the giants. would be a good swap IF we can find a 6. Real shame he never got his chance to date at 6.
If theres no-one out there then the shirt is his if we wants it, step up and take it scotty.

| Looking at the thread title.
Yeh!
That's what I would do.
Seriously tho'. Deffo give Grix a shot at that. Looks effective to me when in the middle, and still scoring tries out wide.
Don't get it when folk get on his back. But then, there are so many better coaches and players on the terraces.

I'd guess it's because whilst he's often looked good and enthusiastic, he's never quite shown enough in any one position. He ended last year well, but started this one poorly with quite a few mistakes. I wouldn't hold his performances on the wing against him too much as I think it showed it definitely isn't his position, or at least he'd need to learn to defend as part of the system there. As for at 6, not quite sure he's the pace or handling, but he's shown enough work around there to suggest it is the psoition he should try to work on.

| I'd agree with this. Grix is in the unfortunate position of not really having a defined role - he's not a winger (although he does get a few tries), he's not our best option at full back (Blaymire is), he doesnt appear to have the creativity to play Stand Off regular and he wears No13 but isnt a lock.
I like the lad and would love him to be here next year - just dont know where.
Having said all this, good utility men are a godsend during a long season.

| I'll probably get some flack for this but i chose the option for scanning the NRL and feeder comps...
Reasons being...
The club has done well on the field this year and could still finish 4th - in a 14 team league, that would be fantastic for the club.
To sustain and improve on such, is there a young english stand off, who is AVAILABLE, and realistically good enough to play week in week out and sustain and improve on potentially a top 4 place?
A realists answer would be no....
Grix cannot get a regular spot for us at 6 and he has had plenty of chances, and it looks like he is huddersfield bound....
Brough, is certainly good enough, but his future at the club beyond this season is still in doubt.
Obst, is a good player, but my personal view is that he is a better number 9 than 6. Id keep obst, but spell him at 9 with newton.
Southernwood....is he capable of outplaying the likes of burrow, pryce and dobson week in week out?!
