I remember his appointment at the time cause great debate over his suitability to the job.

Any promising young players that signed for Batley swiftly degenerated into dire dross under his 'expert' tutelage.

That just goes to show that your judgement is way, way off the mark when there were at least 2 other teams in for GT besides Wake-all of them run by personnel who's judgement on RL Coaches is, shall we say, just a little more respected in the game than yours will be.

My advice, for what its worth,is to disregard the above.
Batley have a surfeit of GT haters, indeed,they seem to hate anything or anybody they dont agree with and feel they know better .
GT is an honest, hardworking and honourable guy who gave a lot to Batley. He was held back by the monetary restraints and given that, deserves another chance.
Good luck to him. He has joined a great club.

suitability has bu66er all to do with it. Thornton will find the same problems Sampson had, he will have no control on the players he has in the squad. The players are not his, like they were not Roy's and they are poor to say the least, but hey, only a year left for reserve grade if my info is correct. |
