Maybe, I actually thought he was OK as a player and could have developed into something usefull - but for whatever reason he went back. Must have been an expensive excercise flying him half way round the world though for a 10 games or whatever, we could try quite a few Mat James/Richard Moore/Oliver Wilkes/Ben Gledhill eque gambles for that sort of money I reckon.

Mid /low level imports have plagued us for years and we have the ideal oppertunity to get away from it but need to make the effort and not take the easy option in my opinion.

If you are referring to James Maloney in pre-season when we were linked with him I would have said no thanks, not another number 6, definitely not a 7, definitely not good enough. But having watched him last week against the Roosters, he looks a completely different player, he lead the Warriors around the park.

I would have said in pre-season we had every chance of getting him. Now, I can't see for any reason in the world why he would leave NZ to join us, or why they would let him!! He is their first choice number 7 for god sake.

Come on......dont leave it at that!!

Why should it stop the development of Gledhill, having a extra prop will give us chance to keep our forwards fresh and cover for the usual injuries. I suspect Gledhill will continue to get the occasional game time, which is enough for him in the first team atm.

I feel that this will benefit Gledhill in that he will gain from having experience and 'protection' around him and give him chance to develop at a prop's pace.

It would seem that Hickey was a rising star at the Dogs, but hasn't kicked on since 2009, so hopefully, he's coming to us with a load of pent-up aggression and a massive point to prove. If he's looking to play out the season with us to earn another NRL contract, that could well be the case.

What we do need is a barnstorming prop who can bust the line and put on massive hits that lift the team and the crowd; what we don't need is a half-baked Aussie failure who gives away too many penalties and doesn't want to be here.

Time will tell.

I also know nothing about him other than what I've read on here, but the view of our cheif Aussie scout spook2011 is good enough for me (G'day Andrew); unless he's wrong!

Ditto, never seen him in action - could be anything. Like the overwhelming majority on here you would probably guess. At the moment though he is just another second rate import.

Probably the case but it's interesting that it is against the trend of all our recent signings so what's happened in the background that enables us to offer longer term deal.

Looking at this in conjunction with Richard Wright tearing down his carefully built facade about finance for the Cas stadium and our alleged dropping of Oakwell it makes you wonder what's been said behind the scenes.
