I agree with most of what you say and all that you say about SL.
But the championship is still a joke and the saddest thing is that clubs are quite happy to sit in it and accept their pathetic lot.

Obviously a very dissapointing day for your club so I won't go on. But being out of SL isn't the end of your clubs existance, see: Widnes (grown as a club) Leigh (new ground) Halifax (rising crowds) as examples of that. If your going to say no SL and I aint bothering any more, why do you in the first place? This project always seemed on an extremely tight timescale and one knock back could see SL 2012 at a major threat, but hey you just move on, even if administration is needed you use it as a why to clean up the club and re build (as Widnes have). Less of income has to go on first team and you get your self in prime posistion for a bid in 2015 in Newmarket!

Championship clubs didn't get a say in removing P&R for SL, SL did so what did you want us to do about it? We have kicked up enough fuss but whilst SL clubs inc Wakefield back RFL proposals we have no influence as whoever goes down will quickly find out.

i don't think the merger thing will rear it's ugly head again, I think once Cas have put in for full planning by the end of this week we will have taken a huge step to securing our future and there will be no need for a merger.
I dare say the fact that we will be submitting full PP will be rubbished in certain quarters on this forum but my question in reply to that is, why would Cas (a club supposedly struggling for funds) splash out the 150 to 200k needed to apply for full PP if they could do nothing with it when granted.

I don't think anyone on this forum can scoff at Cas's efforts to get a new stadium.

In 30 years supporting the club I can't recall how many times people have used the phrase, or similar phrases, death of the club. This is indeed a setback. In the short term this is extremely bad news. IN the long term history of our club however this is simply a set back. I have seen us relegated, hammered week after week, under financial threat etc etc etc. BUT we are still here. My 11 year old still naggs me to travel 160 miles round trip for a home game. I grew up watching us in dividision 2. if we have to drop down so be it. It won't be for everyone but for the long term future of the club this is a mild depression not a terminal illness.

In all honesty these fans from certain quarters on here as you put it would have every right to be sceptical for doing so, as a lot of your fans have protested long and loud about Mr Wright themselves, it does seem that he has led you up the garden path a few times. Perhaps one good reason for putting in for fpp is that it will buy you time with the RFL and will give you the extended time to get the right price for your own ground if it has not already been sold good luck anyway.

Gutted. The club is now going to die a slow and painful death and lets not kid ourselves, Leeds Council have probably had more to do with this outcome then those useless set of NIMBY's.

If your Yorkcourt the PI reduces the need to provide funding for the community stadium, they can just sit tight and wait for the redesignation and build only the Warehouse Units.

Having said all that, the fact remains that the Corner Shop mentality of the people that have presided over the club is what will really lead to our demise. This was a last shot and was never going to be straightforward. Their actions and inactions have led us to this last chance saloon and we have no chance of getting fresh blood in now.

Are you mad? Championship clubs accept "their pathetic lot"? I understand hardly any of you were supporting us when we voiced our original concerns but that doesn't mean we haven't been voicing them.

I sincerely do hope things work out for you lot, as a resident of Wakefield, this city needs a top flight team.

Its not being out of super league that will end us,its being out of super league coupled with no ground that will finish us.
I cant imagine it being financially viable to play non super league out of Oakwell.
A ground share with either of the other WMDC clubs would only lead to mergers.
Out of super league and with no ground,i cant see a solution that would enable the club to continue.

dont know what to say other than i feel sorry for you guys espacially the people who have put their heart and souls into making newmarket happen.im sure the club and swag will come out fighting but whether its enough to convince the rfl i dont know.

im sure rugby league was a sport but in recent years you after wonder when politics can decide a clubs fate.

The championship clubs didn't just sit back and 'accept their pathetic lot' but they weren't given a choice and they were on their own as the SL clubs were happy to be ringfenced in SL and sod the rest. It is only now that some of the SL clubs (yours included) have come under threat that they are suddenly agreeing with what the Championship clubs said 3 years ago. And as i'm sure you've noticed complaining isn't going to get you very far but that doesn't mean that you are 'accepting' it does it?

Maybe if more clubs like Cas, Wakey and Salford had complained 3 years ago, as the Championship clubs did, when the system was being brought in then it might have been avoided. But they stuck with their 'im all right jack' attitudes and are only bothered now that they might end up on the other side of the closed door that SL is becoming.

Most Championship clubs and fans aren't happy with the current system but seeing as there is little we can do we might as well just enjoy our rugby in what is a very exciting and competitive league.
