Do you wear jumpers with cats on them?

I've got three cats each one owned by one or other of my daughters, if I caught the person responsible for hurting/killing one of our cats and therefore hurting one of my daughters, Id take great pleasure in drowning the barsteward after torturing him for a couple of days!

I'm not kidding!

From now on I'll offer them a nice bit of chicken, give them a stroke and get their trust right back up in humans on the street.





You don't get it, a lot of people like to hurt cats. Obviously I don't chase them into the road or out of the village but every time I've given a little stamp they scurry off to the safety of their own garden. Where they should be.

My parents cat proofed their garden so their cat couldn't leave it, a lot of pedigree cat owners do it too (mainly to stop theft from gypsies

), for me it should be the norm. Especially as poisoning of cats is on the up.

You would not believe the excuses I have heard. They range from I cant get onto the computer, right down to I cant afford it sorry, as they are stood there puffing on a cancer stick right in-front of me !!!!!! I have paid £15 myself to enter into the race for life and my target is £100 of sponsors and if i have to I will top up my fund myself just to get to my promised target because at the end of the day non of us know what's round the corner and we all expect to be put back together by the medical profession, but even they cant help us without the funding into research and hopefully one day a cure into this nasty disease . That's a bit unfair - plenty of people do their own charitable giving and that might not include the cause or the type of event that you're doing; it doesn't necessarily mean that they don't want to give money to good causes.

Any experts on goldfish care on this board? One of ours is swimming round the tank looking a bit like a mouldy peach.

Can't help you with this one, but it sounds like curtains for the fish.

Fungus - you need to isolate it and maybe give it a salt bath.

Alternatively and much more sensibly, put it in a sarnie bag and squash it between two bricks.

If there are fish remaining, treat the water.

I think if you do a 25% weekly water change religiously most fish should do well. I stopped adding water treatment about 2 years ago as it always seemed to make things worse and effect the healthy fish.

I'm currently thinking of selling my 4 foot tank to make way for a 6x6 foot pond in the cellar.

We did that for the first couple of months, then had 3 weeks away where we didn't get chance, and the fish were affected after that. I reckon the weekly quater tank water change is good enough. We also have one of those syphon things to clean the crap out of the bottom. They look happy enough now, after their sodium something-or-other bath. Just hope they live till Tuesday, when the kids come back.

I like the idea of the pond in the cellar.

looks a nice set up but your heater in the pic is upright and the warmth of the heater will of turned on and off too much ideally it should be at 45 deg central to the length of the tank.

what filtration have you, also is it connected to protein skimmer or uv light for marine ?
