You have said that Wright & Ashworth are holding out for a big pay-off - thats your difference and the stumbling block.'"

Nail on head there Sandal.

Bargain price from administrator or inflated price from shareholders who dont want to sell (or have an inflated view of their "asset".
They either need someone who has loads of cash and is a fan or, for the current shareholders to let the club go cheaply for the long term good of Cas and neither of these look likely.

Is he good at his job/has qualifications then rather than the typical 'ex-player given a job' we've seen time and time again?

He's done a very good job at Cas and is credited with their membership scheme being a relative success on the back of an awful season. He is probably the most enthusiastic bloke on the planet! He has made some good contacts with could be vital in a tough sponsorship market.

Oh dear - just when they start to look half-decent on the pitch, things start to go wrong off it.

Who will be next?

His wife was the marketing manager, she's gone as well.

Interview with Steve on the YEP website -

rlhttps://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/castleford-tigers/ferres-open-minded-on-his-future-after-leaving-castleford-tigers-interview-1-5448944rl

I might be reading between the lines and indeed over thinking this (as TRB often jokes I have a tendency to do), but it does sound to me like Steve may have been leaning towards a ground share at Newmarket, if ultimately the plan to significantly improve WR didn't come to fruition prior to Newmarket being completed in (hopefully) 2015?

EDIT: Just to add that is also sounds like he might have been pushing the BOD to actively seek or accept new investment to finance improvements to WR in the shorter term as well, to generate more revenue.

That thought crossed my mind as well IA. No wonder the Cas Tigers BOD told him to do one.

I have to agree and suspect that many others on the board would too. Equally, if Steve's own 'Cas' vision was Super League, come what may (so to speak), then along with maybe the BOD's unwillingness to dilute their shareholding and welcome new investment in the club and presence into the board room in the short term, then going was probably a decision they ended up reaching almost mutually?

Agree entirely. I remember when we had our 2 stints in NL1. Some of the comments from members of our BOD were quite warming to playing at that level, even more alarming was the fact they were comfortable with the lower finances involved at that level. I get the feeling Cas Tigers would take a drop down before even comtemplating a move to NM.

I think you have the wrong thread - a trait seemingly very common over the common - if you get my gist! icon_smile.gif
