| And Trojan.....if you were paid late, twice.....and went in to work. Would you be happy or would you be looking for another job? (Or going to the union for help, if that kind of job)
It's a breach of contract. He's every right to withhold his talent in my opinion.

| Anyone who has been in a position of financial uncertainty through work, whether it being a self employed tradesmen, on the books at a business etc will know the stress and resentment it causes.
I don’t blame anyone for walking away from a job that is jeopardising your finances.

Been reported by RL Journalist John Davidson that we are interested in Kallum Watkins. I've always worked on the basis that I can sit at home on the settee watching the telly than go to work for nowt, so it's understandable that he did not want to turn out for Salford today, don't pretend to know the circumstances at his club but can't help feeling that club chairmen might not look too favourably on his actions and might question his loyalty, maybe he might have been better off playing today, I'm sure opinions will be divided, whatever though I think his time will now be up there. I'll guess that you are trying to provoke a response here,So i'll duly oblige you as I am very good friends with a couple of the Salford players families and I know only too well what they have gone through. If you don't know the circumstances regarding what is going on at Salford then why did you make this post? Every other RL fan in the world apart from you does actually know that players and staff haven't been paid on time for the past 2 months. I find your post very insensitive to what each member of staff at the Salford club is going through at present, as they will all have mortgages and also other payments to make each month. I fully support what Kallum Watkins and Chris Atkin have done today by making themselves unavailable for selection. IMO I think that all SL club chairmen will have a far more educated opinion than yours and that both players will be signed up vey soon. In the meantime you can sit on your settee and not go to work until the bailiffs come knocking on your door Here's a response from me you crave for, If I wasn't getting paid I'd go somewhere where I would to keep the bailiffs away, never having been involved with bailiffs you have me at a loss maybe you've had experience with them with you unnecessary mention of them, as much as I have sympathy for the two players that you mention and sound as your acting as an agent for, there are families far worse of in this country than those not on decent money with no chance of any savings and probably can't even spell the word mortgage or aren't they high enough on your list? btw I never mentioned anything about the beleaguered staff just Watkins, What I did say was and it's there for you to read again now you've done your grandstanding is that I don't have any understanding on the financial situation at Salford and I personally don't think he's good enough for our club, and just to keep the post on a rugby footing I'm ever so glad you managed to scrape a lucky win at home to Leeds keeps the locals happy from further embarrassment.

I never said I would be happy. I wouldn’t be, but I would do what was expected of me in my role to at least the minimum whilst looking for another job. If I were to sit at home despite receiving payment albeit late and deprive my talent then I would also be in breach of contract too I would expect. If the intention is to deprive the business of my talents then I would leave and give notice or find a resolution with my current employer either with the union or of my own accord. How long would you say he should withhold his talent for from the club that’s paying him. 1 week? A month? A year?

I suspect it will continue most of the season. Even if Salford manage to get back to having a competitive team it would only diminish the comp integrity further with the scores run up by a few clubs.

| People are forming view without any facts. Did the club looking at these players say "If you get injured the deal is off". Much as we as fans look at it a certain way Callum Watkins has to focus on his family and what is right for them. He may have the principle that he doesn't want to play for a club whose owners seem to be shafting them at every turn. Mentally this must be terrible so do not just judge him.
If he signs for Leeds, us or whoever it doesn't matter. He has always struck me as an honest man and if you look back previously has struggled with mental health issues so come on give the bloke a break.

| Quote isn't working for me so I'm replying to Trojan.
1) Didn't say you were happy, I asked if you would be. Clearly no one would be happy at not getting paid on time.
2) it all depends what the contract says of course but I imagine it says when they'll be paid. So they are in breach of contract. What you do after that is fairly moot but I'm sure there is a correct procedure. In relation to your comment, I'd say this is his way of saying he wants to leave.
3) Salford are in special measures. They can't play their whole team. They have to choose a team that fits the criteria. So they have other options.
4) Given everyone knows the situation I can't imagine it will affect any future recruitment for him. Except maybe the contract terms as they know it is a buyers market.
5) in my opinion, based on what I know, which is only through the media, the only people at fault are the Salfird management team.
And I don't think he's saying you don't have morals.
