it was two that failed to turn up. as for the other 3 they made no form of creditable argument between them. one of them tried to raise environmental issues as a concern. not realising he was sat next to a bloke from the environment agency who proceeded to inform him he was talking . speaking to eric timmins during and on the way out of the hearing he seemed to think we could get an answer within the next 7 days. albeit very unlikely. fantastic news for the club and the city. thanks to all concerned especially TRB

| Quote ="Sandal Cat"No. There is a 28 day period for legal challenge and Government Office have to decide if it should go to Public Inquiry. Also the matter of the Highways Agency Article 14 Notice has to be dealt with and the Developer now needs to apply for Detailed Consent for the Stadium and infrastructure.
The Developer will deal with the HA's concerns and I cannot see a Public Inquiry being called. The Planning decision was unanimous and the objectors have been led by a NIMBY who appears to have little credibility. It will in my opinion it will be passed back to Wakefield MDC who will rubber stamp it.
If YorkCourt submit a detailed application at the end of November we could have consent early in the new year and start building straight away with completion in time for the start of the 2012 SL season.
Great day for the Club and we can now start to build and look forward.
A big thank you to TRB, SWAG and all involved and not forgetting Ted Richardson who never gave up after Thornes Park collapsed.
Again a big thank you from Sandal Cat to all concerned, you have made my day - I'll have to celebrate with a few tonight.'"
Thanks for that,heres hoping.

| What a wonderful day ! The result never looked in doubt the more the meeting progressed . In fact the case put by the objectors was pitiful, so much so that two didn't even turn up !

| If the decision was unanimous and the only objector was poor then logic says that the government will pass it back straight away and let us get on with it. I can't see how this can be delayed now.
I thought the Look North report gave too much airtime to the nimby woman, and the presenters opening line "Wakefield Trinity have been given the go ahead to build their new stadium on green belt land" was typical sloppy journalism.. at least the reporter outside the town hall made the correct reference to the brown belt land the stadium is goin up on and the green belt that the warehouse are.

No way the cons can reject nearly 2000 new job opportunities no way. Neil Fox stand corners filled in unlike Warrington where you see the cars passing ha ha. Great day gonna get drunk tonight on a few large konjaks. What happened to the people protesting against the ground ?? 600 people to 0 . TRINITY FOREVER ONWARDS AND UPWARDS!

I thought construction was going to take 18 months?
It's great news today, a tribute to everyone involved
I really can't see us opening the new stadium early 2012 though!! Here's hoping!

| I was lucky enough to be at the meeting and kept having to smile as all the councillors questions were very awkward for the NIMBY speakers (the ones that turned up that is ) They were made to look quite foolish on several occasions.
The lady from Methley Residents Association was asked how long she had lived in her house - when she said 10 years the councillor said (words to the effect of) 'Ah you may not know then that there was a dirty great pit on the site which was in operation 24 hours a day with coal wagons and trucks up and down Newmarket Lane all day long'
She then said that the area had been reclaimed and designated as a leisure amenity for residents - this was corrected by a councillor in that no such designation occurred .. and referred to gypsies/travellers who had regularly set up camp there.
I thought all our speakers were excellent ... and Clive Hudson gave an absolutely fantastic passionate speech.
A big well done to everyone - today is the 1st day of the rest of our lives

| It was actually quite a thrill to be there; the turn-out was great, got lots of attention from the local office workers and even the County Hall staff came out for a look. Passing motorists were honking to show their suppport and at one point, plod turned up in numbers ([size=50the numbers 1 and 2[/size).
TRB for Mayor!

| Quote ="sandcat20"Just want to add my congratulations and the heartfealt thanks that comes with 50+ years of supporting Trinity goes to SWAG and TRB and all the others - it makes my paltry letter writing to councillors etc. seems pretty small beer. The effort and time they invested must have been huge and probably took over their lives at times.
I vote for at least a plaque at the main entrance to recognise the efforts of those without whom nothing would be happening - and I'll contribute to its cost!!!!'"
Hey, that paltry letter was part of a fantastic effort.
Whilst it pales compared to the efforts of SWAG members, you’ve done your bit.
All who took the time to submit letters & lobbied the Councillors should feel their efforts have been a big help to club, we undoubtedly love.
Well done to all, The Club, The Developer, The Trust & SWAG, who lets not forget, spend many hours working for free.
Thanks to I.A also, I’m sure his input has been a great help,
But finally to Phil, I know it’s still a long road, but, your efforts have been outstanding, many thanks.
Enjoy tonight folks, I know I will .

| Couldn't make it today but very pleased with the result
It might have been mentioned but wondered if anyone who was there knows if the Section 106 (Contract to build stadium before any buildings are brought into use.) was agreed?
One of the best days for Wakey in recent memory!!!

I think 46 weeks (from start) was quoted as the earliest completion for the stadium. But as you say it needs to be underway asap.
I was told yesterday that building is expected to start by end of Feb, it will not be finished in time for the next season and an alternative ground will be used for the first few fixtures of that season.

That'll do me, as long as they only need to finish bits off the RFL will not be able to overlook it.
If we have to go to Barnsley for a few games then so be it.

| From Diane today: The build will be between 46 and 52 weeks, the additional time due to possible weather delays to ground works starting in February. Expect to be ready to play on in June 2012. Down to RFL as to whether they'll allow us to play the first few games of 2012 at Belle Vue or insist on a temporary move.
Very big step forward today. Congratulations and thanks to all those who made this happen. Optimism returns to Trinity.
