Exactly, having grown up through the technology boom things like forums aren’t popular and haven’t been for many a year.

That said I do prefer posting on forums as you can articulate your points better, they can be better policed and managed and you’re not limited to short messaging. Suppose that’s quite old fashioned thinking these days.

Groups are full of unregulated and poorly managed posts/conversations. It may be convenient but almost anything goes and anyone can almost say anything.

I agree. I use social media a lot but for a proper discussion the forum works better for me.

Don't use SM at all (other than Whatsapp) so this is my only place to post my diatribe (along with a couple of car forums)

I missed the old days of forums before Social media colonised them. You could do a simple google search and find a wealth of information from publicly available Forums, now most stuff is hidden in private facebook/reddit groups unreachable by search engines. SM is just too fasted paced for reasoned discussions too many angry outbursts and easy for uber Trolls to ply their skills.

I do find the two main RL forums generally more mature than FB in particular. The uncontrolled Yob and Troll element input spoils FB IMHO.

For all you guys saying you don't use social media, are you aware that internet forums do come under the banner of social media?

They do and are amongst the early versions along with chat rooms (which are largely obsolete these days).

As said before though they’re a more mature form of social media that’s better controlled. Social media is handy and I use it myself but for discussion prefer here.

Again though, I do think the ads play a big part. Most people use phones for browsing and the ads are massively overbearing on this site. It completely ruins the experience but I and some others I’d imagine persevere with them.

I find it much easier on my phone.
Don't get the same flurry of ads.
Don't know whether I blocked them in the past.

I use Samsung Internet with with ad blocker add ons and just get the 3 rlfans unobstructive ads under the match centre

I'm on Samsung too so probably did the ad blocker ages ago.

I’m on iPhone so maybe exclusive issue to that.

HP laptop running Windows 10 with AdBlock works just fine for me
