| Quote: Hatfield tiger "Seriuos Question here and before anyone starts i am not gloating etc. This is something that the article raised.
Can Wakefield actually afford the rent at Barnsley? I know one of the concerns of Quins was the fact they were being charged circa £20k per game to play at the stopp. Now i know these are London prices etc but its not just the actual rent. Add to this the fact of the lost revenue from concessions etc and it will invariably cost more to move to Oakwell than the costs saved from not running Belle view.
There of course will be a cost saving involved with not having to pay for the maintenance etc on games day but surely that can not equate to lets say £15k per game - the likley rent price having to be paid per game.
How will this develope the long term viability of the club or at least the 3 years covering the next frachise period - given that this is one of the things the franchise applications will look not simply the stadia you play in.
There is no point having a great stadia if the clubs long term future is crippled by the cost of locating there. And before you start yes i accept the issue over Quins and Crusaders who face the same issue - but the RFL have made it quite clear these are special circumstances - weather we like it or not they don't care
Be interesting to here your thoughts.'"
Not a question most of us can answer as we have no idea what the rent will be. However, what is the alternative?
Sharing at Glasshoughton (if it ever gets built!!) would still cost us rent and probably lose us even more supporters than moving to Oakwell would.
As I said before the journo questions what we would lose out on (eg bar revenue etc) but never thinks to mention that that would be the same at Glasshoughton anyway.
Serious question for you.
Which of these 2 options is likely to alienate the most Wakefield fans
a) Moving to Oakwell, travelling a bit further and paying rent to a Football club but having nice facilities.
b) Sharing a ground in Castleford, paying rent to Castleford and effectively putting them a mile in front of us in terms of future applications (and playing in a ground that does not have state of the art facilities as it actually has no facilities whatsoever because it does not currently exist!!!)

| I would rather ground share with Dewsbury who fall under kirklees council giving nothing in return to Wakefield council who it has to be said have helped very little throughout this whole planning process.

| Built in 1993, The Tetley's Stadium is conveniently situated just five minutes drive from both the M1 and M62.
It has two covered stands, one seated and one standing and the ground has an approximate capacity of around 3700 and there is ample parking next to the ground.
As part of the Rams' Community Development Programme, the club hosts matches for a number of other organisations. This ranges from schools, representative and amateur matches to student matches and internationals.
In 2003, the club hosted the final of the British American Football League and the Male and Female Student Rugby League Grand Finals.
The club has excellent conference and hospitality facilities and hosts a large number of wedding receptions and business meetings. There are licensed bars and full catering facilities for meetings from a small group to a full conference.
These facilities coupled with the convenient location, just off the main motorway network, make The Tetley's Stadium the premier local venue for sporting, business and social events.

Watched Dewsbury vs Cas there many years ago, fans were spilling behind the posts as they couldnt cope in the stands. Serves more of a purpose as a car boot location than a rugby ground these days.

| This is utter garbage. The only reason a ground share at Glasshoughton was mentioned as part of the proposed feasibity studt was that Castleford did not have the funding and Glasshoughton would have been deliverable with the Newmarket funding. This would have got Castleford a franchise and us demoted to NL1 - we may still end up there so no worse a position for us.
Anyway is no longer on the Agenda. Castleford have ALL funding in place so Glasshoughton will happen, they will get a franchise and we will make way for Widnes. Castleford do not need us so its a non starter.

WHY ON EARTH NOT........ Does that not make you a "fair weather" supporter, or "Glory Hunter"???
Believe me the standard of Rugby in the Championship is not that bad and you would still have your postcode derby games, in fact you would have more with Batley, Dewsbury and Featherstone all having WF postcodes.
If most of the current fans continued to support Wakefield through the Championship, it would most certainly help your bids to return, however it is all about choice at the end of the day and you will certainly loose a large percentage of your fans, who think just like you do.

| Blame Ted Richardson. He completely blanked any idea of sharing with us at Castleford and now he must be regretting what he has done.

Tell you what Jungle man, we may not get a franchise and if we don't i will find it hard to pump anymore money into the RFL by attending international games etc.
We may not have been the best side in the League but we certainly have contributed to the entertainment. Im sure you remember the game in 2006 when we sent you down, which i think has happened twice since super league started. Your mullet wearing, banjo playing, webbed fingered fans were not so smug then were they!
We will come back from this, but Wakefield will never die!

| I bumped into Francis Stephenson yesterday & had a chat about this week's developments. While the full details of our contingency plan will only be made public after the shareholder's meeting on Jan 4th, he was very clear that our focus remains on Newmarket.
I cannot see a ground share happening with Cas - even as a temporary move.
I am confident that planning permission will ultimately be granted - what I'm not confident about is whether we will be able to make sufficient progress with the public inquiry to satisfy the RFL when it comes to next year's franchise decision.

This isn't Ted's fault at all.
The biggest obstacle to us not having a stadium sorted in the last 8-10 years is Peter Box. He screwed us with Thornes Park & he did his best to screw us with Newmarket. We finally have a feasible & financed plan that has the backing of the council. All that remains is for Pickles to pull his finger out of his fat backside and get the public inquiry started as soon as possible.

Ted is sharing the opinion of the vast majority of Wakefield fans. I didn't see many glum faces at Belle Vue when he announced that we would go it alone. I'm sure at the forthcoming shareholders meeting there will be very few, if any, wanting to share at Glasshoughton. There will be some stormy scenes if Glasshoughton is included in any Plan B!

| Don't bite, don't bite, don't bite........ oh sod it!
what an ill informed, biased pile of twaddle.
We are not turkeys, and if we were we would not be voting for Christmas.
There would be absolutely no benefit whatsoever to WTRLFC playing at a ficticious stadium in cas which will not be built in time to form part of our franchise bid. The only beneficiaries would that self-same club who are widely accepted to be our main (only?) rivals for top-flight survival.
The future of the club is firmly in the hands of those vested with the responsibility of negotiating the terms of plan B. (which is really plan C, incorporating longer-term plan D as I'm sure plan B was finding somewhere to play at the start of 2012 before NM was ready to use in June)
Somehow I'm still optimistic. Cas's perseverance with GH now that the bar has been lowered somewhat could be their undoing should it not progress as quickly as they are hoping. NM was always a gamble that SL would accept promises of incomplete stadia in the franchise applications. Perhaps a ready-made stadium deal is a safer option now, given the time-scale.
