In most cases the cas players fielding the kick hardly had to move to take it and most were caught on the full allowing valuable metres to be gained. Our kickers don't see to take account of where the opposition players are and aim for the space.

In the 2nd half the main problem was our kickers getting carried away by the wind advantage and certainly Hyde's insistence on trying for 40-20's instead of territory. It was therefore easy for Mathers to set himself early and catch the ball.

A good kicker, like an ordinary one, will have a plan A but has the quick ability to change to plan B if he sees the ground is being closed down. Hyde's kicks seem almost too predetermined with him setting his body position and place in the line very early then compounding this by running in the direction he's kicking it for too long. All this makes it easier for a full-back with good game sense, like Mathers, to position themselves.
