I have heard rumous too regarding an Aussie halfback but i don't believe them because we don't appear to have the any spaces on our overseas quota avaliable at the moment although with all the confusion regarding the quota system who knows.

well dont know if its the same one mopsey has been on about it would be a present suprise if so not mentioning names but he has a famous uncle but says hes contracted till 2015 so probably all hearsay

Also the person who I think you are talking about (Terry Capese?) is out for 9 months with a knee injury.

It is very confusing but at the moment I think our existing quota players are:

Morrison - Australian so must be quota
Millard - Fijian so not necessarily quota but must be Non-Fed trained
Jeffries - Australian although can qualify for British citizenship through residency during next season I think (according to BJ himself)
Obst - Australian so should be quota but has been in the country for a long time so not sure on residency status

New players that have come in:
Jeremy Smith - Kiwi? so must be quota I believe
Jessie Joe Parker - Another Fijian (Non-Fed trained??)

As it stands that looks to me like we've already got one too many so can't see another Aussie being brought in as they would definitely be quota unless I'm misinterpreting the rules somewhere.

It is all far too confusing, surley the RFL should publish a list at the start of each season as to who each clubs overseas players are for that season?

I would imagine the only reason they don't do it is because it would show up how it is not a level playing field because some clubs are allowed more quota players than others or am i being overly synical?

What is clear is that there are more comings and goings to happen before next seasons squad is finalised; interesting times!

I reckon the ban (if there is one) would be worldwide.

In the case of Greg Bird he was allowed to join SL after having an NRL ban. I'm not so sure, guess we'll have to wait until Monday.

To be fair what Bird did (although very wrong) doesn't quite come into the same category as alleged match fixing. Time will tell I suppose

Yeah i agree it's not as bad. But i'd imagine it would be a general policy that banned in the NRL doesn't mean banned in SL. I can't see it being judged on an individual case.

The difference is that he had his contract terminated with his club and the NRL backed them. Super League chose not to

In this case I would think the NRL will take it to the international board as the issue is with the sport rather than a private matter that the club decided to get involved in.

They are saying that more than normal bets where put on a match to have the first score being a penalty.
The only accused player on the pitch at the time was Ryan Tandy and he gave 2 penalties away one of which was converted into...............................a try.
I kid you not Thurston was injured and I belive Mason was sat on the subs bench as he normally didn't come on till 20 mins into a match.

Who said anything about the case against Bird not being as bad?

I stated what I thought obvious, they are not in the same category. That means NOT the same, so by definition different punishment for different cases.
