Sainsburys at Trinity Walk, where we do our shopping, is usually operating about a quarter of its tills, that implies nothing of the sort.

Sorry mate, i think we are at crossed purposes, i meant the need for two Sainsbury's.

| The worry for Cas fans is not just that rival sites are available or that WR might get called in for a PI, it is the franchise clock that's ticking!
With this latest delay meaning probably no announcement until Feb/March 2012 at the earliest, Castleford have lost ONE YEAR of the three available to them and have made no visible progress.
Forget next year being the first of the three available because the clubs are likely to be required to submit their franchise applications by March 2014!
For this next franchise period (2012-2014) the clubs had a submission deadline of March 2011, for the next franchise round (seasons 2015-2017) the clubs are likely to have a submission deadline of March 2014.
The clocks ticking and lack of progress through delays are will hamstring Castlefords ability to submit a believable application.
If they get a planning application in and the worst scenario plays out and it goes to a PI they will be out of time in terms of submitting anything more than what they've submitted ths time around and I don't think the RFL will wear that from Castleford, Wakefield or anyone else.

Sorry i'm with you. I agree we don't need two Sainburys and I think they regret taking up the one at Trinity Walk to be honest. Although moving back into Ings road is probably partly to get their market share back and partly to try keep Tesco away!

I'm intrigued as to why WMDC want GH built?
Anyway, if as rumoured, Mr Box is a Cas shareholder, the council will need to ensure any decision to favour WR over another site for a supermarket is squeaky clean.

| The only relevence I can glean from this is that it all just goes to show how difficult it is to make a stadium happen. Cas have had this site for years, had OPP for years and now have detailed PP, but without any cash, it's worthless.

Without the cold hard cash life is tough, equally not having permission holds it's own problems.
The real added problem for both us and cas is time, we can see possible light at the end of our tunnel, cas' fortunes seem somewhat cloudier at the moment.
But two things remain facts, none of us can count on the planning process, and in cas' favour or to their detriment, supermarkets are hugely powerful.
As things are stacked up at the minute, I'd rather be in our shoes, although that's not to say I would still want to be in three months time or so.
There is just too much uncertainty and conjecture, I don't envy anyone directly involved in this whole process, it's tough enough on the sidelines.

It seems to me that it could all change at any given moment and thats why i won't get carried away.
Those who think Cas are falling behind in this two horse race could well be mistaken, we are in the hands of others at this moment and in 3 months could be back to square one.
Reallity is a million miles from our wishes.

That's how I see it, as temptingly close as we seem to be, we are playing high stakes snakes and ladders.
Six months ago cas appeared to have leapfrogged us, now we seem to be stronger, who knows what the next six months will bring.
I've given up trying to predict it!

Nail on head TRB!
That is true of Cas and if you get through the LDF and the NM PI then who's to say, given the economic climate now and possible maelstrom just round the corner, Wakey will not be in the same position.

Any council that didnt want to do everything the legally could to keep an elite level sports team in there district, that attracts 10's of thousands of visitors a year, employs a large number of local residents, has the backing of the community and is a source of civic pride would be utterly stupid. That should answer your question as to why, the fact that they have stated there support many times should confirm it to you.
After all cas arent some tin pot little club like fev

And yet on your other forum various posters are lambasting the council for doing exactly that for Wakefield and Newmarket. The council needs to do everything it can to support both clubs in their quest for new stadia.

Then surely in the interest of balance the council should give Cas the same guarantees and pay the same fees they have done for Wakefield?

I agree the council should do everything they can to support both clubs (fev too for that matter).
On the other forum (nice to know you all pop by) people are in the main annoyed that the council funded wakefields planning fees but did not do the same for cas, but i dont really want to get into all that as it will just start another row and we have enough of those about stadiums as it is.
