Wasn't he their captain as well?

| Could it even be a case that we are only looking at someone for one year as a stop gap.
We have no quota spots available, and there aren't too many viable British options available for 2019, could it be that a quota space is being planned to be freed up at the end of the 2019 season, and that there are more viable options to bring into the club beyond that
During this time, Broughy works with the halves we have, to help develop their games further, and maybe just puts a few good games together, and helps us to break that top 4.
Who knows??
But in MC and Chessie, I trust

| Agree with most comments on here. Think he could unsettle the whole squad with his poor attitude. For a fair few years we've been a team lacking in big egos and brimming with team spirit. Hope I'm proved wrong though if he does sign.

This is the main issue for me. The one thing our players always talk about is team spirit and how the whole club is like a family....Brough has the potential to unsettle this.
However, after considering it, i think its a chance we should take. Realistically, without a new ground the club may potentially not have many seasons left. Brough brings something to the squad we have not had for years, an amazing kicking game, the ability to control a game, confidence, quality, experience and he can land a drop goal!
We have lost so many games over the years by 1-4...could he give us those?

And we all live happily thereafter

| We are the same as any other team for god sake - Every team talks about what a tight knit bunch of lads they have and about the harmony within the squad... They aren`t going to say any different are they? We have players with bad attitudes playing throughout the league, does not stop top clubs signing them. It`s Chesters job to manage the squad, if he thinks Brough will do a job for us then that`s fine by me and I think he will also. We are crying out for a half that can guide the team around the field and has a good long kicking game and we don`t have a quota spot available in 2019.

How the hell do you know that, you at the training sesisions?
I don't know either tbf, I'm just guessing but I do think we are a bit different in that respect FWIW.
Nobodies denying Broughs ability though at 35 it is heavily diluted but many of us are very aware of his off field issues. Even for a RL player they are eye opening.
However my biggest issue is this - if you think Brough will win us big games you're kidding yourself. Even in his pomp when skill wise he was the best player in SL he was always a monumental choker. Apart from one CCup game for Hull against Leeds Brough has choked in every big game he's ever played in. He's no Ray Price or Joey Johns if that's what you think.
Still if you and CC think he's the man then I'll cross my fingers that you are right because if you're not CC might be picking up his P45 and you and me will will probably need to find a new pastime.

| It's really funny how danny divides so much opinion
I remember when jk signed him a lot of people thought jk was mad, I can't remember what I thought of danny at the time but he went on to be perhaps the best half back we've had at the club in the SL era

| I'm with Wrencat, if Grix goes and we get Brough, Hampshire will be FB.
I wonder what the difference between the contracts is for Grix and Brough?

True but that was ten years ago and Kear had already worked with hI’m, much bigger risk now.

| Have to disagree with Hampshire at full back. Not big enough.
He is our future 7 and can only get better learning from Brough and Finn next year.
We have 2 excellent young full backs in Jowett and Hooley. Let them get on with it.
Hampshire will still get plenty of game time and I would be happy to see Brough play in spells to help us with his game management. However no tolerance of spitting out his dummy. It must be made clear the team comes first and he should be a mentor to the future incumbents not a god as we don't need those type of players.

| It's plain to see if Grix goes and Brough comes in, Hampshire to full back is what will likely happen. This has a threefold effect; it es off Hampshire as he will be playing out of his preferred position, it es off Jowitt as someone who doesn't even want to play full back takes his place and es off Brough because he's just generally an angry man.

Won’t exactly have Hooley punching the air either.

Indeed, all because we can get someone who is older than Liam Finn to replace him.
Still, without Brough to guide them, how are our youngsters going to fathom how to steal the team minibus and crash it, how will they discover what it's like to drink alcohol like naughty school boys on the back of the team bus against the coaches wishes and how will they follow the example of nearly losing their house to pay off gambling debts.
