Based on today’s performance, if we can improve week on week it’ll make the middle eight very interesting.

There could be a couple of teams coming into the middle eight feeling pretty low after just missing out on the top eight & could be vulnerable, us on the other hand are building towards the final bunfight.

Sure there were some silly decisions from numerous players but the structures looked much improved & the fitness didn’t seem too shoddy.

It was actually disappointing we didn't go onto win a very winnable game, so that must be progress. We stayed in the arm wrestle for a large part of the game, and at times we actually resembled a hard working team. Obviously still lots to improve on, but a very gutsy effort in hard conditions. I thought Miller did ok, at least the lad has heart, which is more than Craig Hall has in that position. Tim Smith for me is the main weak link attacking wise, at times I just don't know what planet he is on, but unless we sign someone else, I don't see any alternatives. Also Riley has come in for a lot of stick but I thought he played quite well, a real gutsy effort so good on em.....

Hope we can all chip in if MC faces the wrath of the RL for his brilliant comments online today.


Great to see the support he has had from RL fans across the league.
Lost count of the number of other RL teams fans i have seen on social media that hated us with a passion under previous regimes that now have a great rapport and respect for our chairman.

A good all round team effort I thought and yes some you could some pick as less effective but they played for each other and the speed around the ruck coupled with the enthusiasm today gives me a feeling of optimism which I didn't have 3 weeks ago

Credit where it is due we did look much better but our need for a specialist and if possible fast centre or centres was an obvious weakness. Miller can run the ball out but sadly cannot tackle which for a full back this is a bit limiting.
Riley looked weak and our lack of pace is a problem. We also need more forward strength but not a hooker which we currently have covered.

Ahh but two hookers are better than one in the present climate and Brian will know that.

Amazing improvement in such a short time. I thought when Bosc went off it might swing Wakey's way but then the penalty that gave them 2 points looked harsh. Not sure about the fitness but they looked miles more confident. Was impressed by how they showed a bit of patience and built pressure until that is Mcshane took the wrong option.

Did anyone notice the HT hooter went at 38mins 50secs ?

And FT at 79mins 42secs.

The Sky clock is not official in the French games something to do with it been sourced from French TV.

Molloy and Kavanagh played really well when they don't normally get praise.
Godinet was good. Don't understand those having a go at Miller I thought he was very good. Certainly one of the better players.
Arundel weak in centre but tried hard.
Smith tackled more than usual too.

Very good all round effort. Smith and players making great strides forward. I look forward to the win that is coming.

Simon and Annakin were highlights in what was a very good display by all the forwards. Miller was great in attack although still weak defensively. I think Arundel and Lyne played quite well today in terms of there potential. All round it was a good performance. I actually enjoyed watching my side get stuck in and compete for once.

Does time work differently on French TV?

There was a letter in league express recently about this, said something along the lines that the Catalan clock doesn't take any notice of the ref's signals for time off/time on.

Seems our coach doesn't agree with all the Tim Smith bashers. From his press conference....

"I thought Tim Smith was quite outstanding again today for us, he was probably the best player for us last week along with Mika Simon. Today I thought they put in very good performances.

I think the thing supporters miss is how much he guides the team and how much he has stepped up in defence.
His kicking was much better too though they shared that out a bit which was good.

Absolutely, Smith is capable just needs managing back to form.

Must say, Tim's tackling has improved recently. Put in some crucial stops yesterday.

Dissagree bout miller thought he was poor again never looked like creating in attack and his defence was shocking the attempt on pelessier of the game changing try was embarrasing.

That Pellisier try was as a result of a large hole in the defensive line near the ruck from a quick play the ball which the forwards should have covered but due to fatigue didn't. Still think fitness may be an issue due to fading badly in last 10 minutes and the score unrepresentative of the game played but no lack of effort/desire. It'll take several weeks no doubt to get to the level of fitness BS demands.

Miller's runs on occasion from fullback were quite impressive. Agree though defensively he goes too high too often (twice in the game yesterday involving two tries) and is not the biggest player so should be taking them around the legs. If they offload and score then so be it but he has at least then tackled the opponent and could not then be criticised.

It was a basic 'Cut play' in behind the ruck, the marker did his job and blocked the acting half back then slid out toward the runner to tie in with the 'A' defender. Unfortunately, the 'A' defender hadn't moved up at all and the hole was huge. The 'A' was McShane, probably gassed from a big effort throughout the match and we know he's not an 80minute hooker which is why we've signed Howarth and Sio.

All in all though we've progressed and look much better which is probably a bit sickening if you're a Leigh fan!
