Not enough to be double ours though. That would get the interactions score up, which FT refers to but not followers. They have that number because they have that many people interested in the club at some level or other.
It probably comes from the success seasons. You click to follow and it has to be something major to make you unfollow. But interactions will peak and drop all the time.

Don't under estimate the impact of Love island/jaques o'neil, my timeline on Twitter and instagram was full of stuff about him and #hashtags of him and cas tigers on non rugby related posts/threads, the tigers didn't monopolise anyway enough with this, they could have easily got over 1m followers if they had any idea how to manipulate social media

But the passing Love Island fan is not going to suddenly follow Cas. They follow his Instagram and click on Cas when there's a link.

O'Neil has 1.2 million followers !!

We've done very little to engage with people either on or off line over the past 10 years. It was seen as an expense with no guaranteed return so naturally an accountant would never go for it and ultimately didn't.

We now have someone in charge who has the resource and also knows the benefit of promotion, speculating to accumulate so to speak. Let's see how the figures go on this basis and hopefully some success.

that's not how the "young'uns" view SM that's very much an older persons point of view, having been heavily involved in using SM for sales and marketing I can confirm that the younger generation click quite randomly on "following" icons for things that feature on their timelines. Love island UK has millions of followers (twitter 1.4m Insta 3.7m tiktok & facebook 1.8m) that's just the UK versions, millions more on the worldwide and country specific account, if just 10% (and trust me that is a very realistic figure to use in this context) were tempted to click follow on one particular person, that would deliver circa 400k new followers with the right SM campaign



Cas failed in not picking up an 10% of JON's followers and capitalising on it and an extra 120k followers would do them a lot of good.

So, I have looked at a few face book pages and we have more likes and follows on Facebook than Featherstone, London, Salford by a considerable margin. In fact we are comparable to Hull KR. It seems to me that Castlefords is inflated somewhat and I would imagine a lot would have to do with recent love island press and Jaques o’niel. Let’s be honest once you follow a page do you ever really unfollow it? I have liked pages that I don’t care for but I forget about them and just scroll past instead of unfollowing.

I actually think looking at the numbers we hold up well on the face of it. The platforms we probably should be growing and focusing on are the YouTube, Tik Toc and Twitter.

In fact there’s always these daft TikTok trends and if the club has an account they could get players to do Tik Tok trends as challenges. That’s how to boost numbers. I haven’t seen any clubs do Tik Tok trends but it would probably be fun and could boost interaction.
