Probably not the done thing to resurrect a thread from five years ago but given this thread was about how well Sykes was playing at a relatively advanced age in 2014, thought it was worth noting that today he made his 450th career appearance, scored a try for Dewsbury and won the man of the match award, a month before his 38th birthday.

Paul Sykes was one player who I felt never let us down through lack of effort. People bashed him for being slow towards the end, but then a few years later we signed someone even slower!

I liked him at the time.
He clearly got older but he gave his best every time and won us enough games on his own to be remembered fondly for his time at Wakefield.

Glad he's still going round. Clearly has something to offer even if not at super league level.

True. There was that year where he won us I think three games on the bounce with a last minute drop goal.

Saints, HKR, then he set himself up for a drop goal but did a shimmy and went over for a try against Widnes I believe. Great games.
