That is a concern and its one thing Brough in particular was very good at. He could read the game very well and could capitalise on a defence out of position. Obst did to a certain extent with his scoots from dummy half in the 1st 40 last night but as the whole teams performance dropped in the 2nd so did his.

because he keeps tipping a Wakefield loss in his column hence he is the spawn of the devil.....that seems to be the general line against him.
I can understand it, i mean why would you want a coach who has had success at every club he has been to (Wigan aside, but in hindsight that was never going to work) has recent NRL experience and training/coaching methods and a hat full of contacts in Australia with influence over the transfer market.

as a coach I like him, but I really do feel he has a dislike to us not because of his tipping but by comments he's made regarding us. Whether he'd come
I don't know I guess only he'd know

Yup, basically how I see it. Kear seems to be imune (to many on here) for the good work he has done in the past - and whilst we need to take this into account when planning there has to come a time when we move on. This "slump" is a regular occurance, and I can genuinely see us fininising closer to last place than 8th as things stand at the moment.
Proven coach with winning mentalitly, heaps of experience, encourages his sides to play entertaining stuff, apparently readily available, currently flying with his side after making huge strides recently + the other reasons you mention...... Yup, promoting Paul Broadbent with JD as assistant is a much more sensible suggestion.

| we have hit a bit of a slump, will come out of it. to be honest i would be more worried if we were getting beat 60 -0 etc, like some of the so called top teams. we are not that far off the mark. some on here seem to think we are saints and should throw the ball about as such but are the first to whine when the ball hits the floor. the only answer they ever seem to have is sack the coach. that will solve every problem from no light bulbs in the toilet to the bar staff turning up late. i am sure when we pick up a couple of wins they will stop wetting themselves and go back to bagging the players.

| IMO it's not time for JK to go, I don't agree with everything he's doing but I don't have all the facts and underlying circumstances at hand. if I did, I might come to the same conclusions as John Kear.
We aren't a million miles away from playing well, many of the required components of a decent team are present in the squad. Maybe JK is too close to the issue to see the problems and he might need to detatch himself from daily training, take a day off and come back with a fresh view on things.
He needs to sever his thinking from his loyalties and emotional atatchments and make some COLD decisions regarding team selection, recruitment and re- signing players.
The team dynamics have been altered radicaly since the pre season and the existing squad have had the first opportunity to seize their chance and fill certain roles in the team. It hasn't worked!
Sam is a hooker
Gleeson is out of his depth
Murphy and Blaymire BOTH need to be in the team
The Cooke gamble hasn't come off
JD needs a non playing/coaching role
Morton needs a break from SL
We need a genuine SL standard Scrum Half
Let's get back to picking players in their correct positions, start addressing the OBVIOUS deficiencies in the team and start playing with some structure but without straight jacketing individuals from intelligent off the cuff play.

| Look at the disruption to the Wakey side this season that's been down to injury, suspension and players leaving. I'd say almost all of that has been outside Kear's control.
So it's shaping up to be a bit of a poor season but theres no need to chuck the baby out with the bathwater.
Get some players back from injury and things will start to look better.

| Kear still seems to have a good backing from us but what do we want him to do with the seemingly out of favour JD? Drop him, change his position, change nothing hoping he comes good, drop captaincy or use him as an impact player etc?

how many teams could cope with what we have this season again..influential hooker gone, tremendous strong physical prop gone, outstanding half back gone, MOST OF YOU LOT REALLY MAKE ME WANT TO MAKE ME PISS BLOOD ! to be quite honest, as a club we could do without you lot who constantly moan..
funny really because we don't tend to see you all at the away games ! apart from the to55er at wigan who wanted a certain player to be badly injured !!

Nail on the head moment right here.
He's done a great job for us, but this season has been poor. He needs to drop the sentimentality and get back to what's best for the team and the club.

So does that mean that if people don't go to away games they don't have the right to voice their opinion?
I always believed that the point of a forum was allow people to express their opinion openly. That seems to only apply to certain people who share the same views as the rose tinted specs brigade. Anyone else not sharing these views is either insulted or slagged down for their opinion.
The team are in a slump, a team which John Kear put together and as I see it he has gone as far he can. That doesn't make him a bad coach it just means he has reached his level of achievement like he did at Sheffield, Huddersfield, Hull and even England. To be fair he has been a victim of his own success from last season and expectations are now higher.
The time has come to accept that we are now lacking direction and getting turned over by mediocre sides. We are starting to head back to the days of we won't finish last because XY or Z have a worse team than us.
I was never a fan of Kear but I have respect for his achievements at Wakefield but to say he is blameless for the way things are is ludicrous the only thing he could not have seen happening this season was the Newton drug test. Brough was always going to leave it was just a case of when and more homework should have been done on Tronc.

You would probably know better than me, but the only change I would make to your team is to have George in instead of Olstrum in the centre and have young Morton on the wing. George was brought to the club as a centre, and as well you know from watching the reserves he has lost pace so why not give him a chance and play him in his natural position, without criticising others he cannot do any worse.

They would have to cope with it just like we are having to, having said that I agree with what you are saying. Its been a big upheaval for everyone concerned at the club, I wonder how many fans have thought about the affects it has had on the other players, two in particular comes to mind Millard when those three were her he was christened magic his game dropped with the ommission of those players makes you wonder, incidently since he has been injured and out of the side I do'nt see any improvement. And to a lesser extent Jeffries, when Broughy was here Jeffries was playing out of his skin and even received praise from those that did not want him back at any cost. When he came back from injury, after a slow start he has now got back to something like unfortunately it will still not be good enough for some, I bet that they wished he had played on Friday night though
